Welcome indeed!!

The Belarus and Zetor also are pretty popular around here, but not for field work, mostly they are either utility/chore machines or used in forestry operations, heavy as sin they are.

I think it's the Belarus which has some neat features, like down pressure on the 3pth, and a front limited slip differential, yup, lock the back and hit the gooey stuff and all 4 wheels bite. The cab models also have a neat feature, a pressurized cab, when you work in dusty conditions air pressure keeps the dirt out instead of sucking it in!!

Best of luck. ....

Welcome to Tweetot2! I do see some of those tractors around here, mostly on fruit farms.

I can't believe what I am seeing with that chain saw attachment. Earlier today I was dreaming how to mount one on my extendahoe bucket so I can trim those large, dangerous branches without being up on a ladder or in the tree. Even with a safety belt and hooks you can get into trouble working alone. ....

Is the "poor man's pole say" for real? It looks as if it is, but then these days with digital enhancement, anything can be put together. How does one control the throttle on the chain saw? Remote control somehow? If it really works, this is neat idea.

Not sure about that saw but my pole saw is electric, no problem with the control. Since the entire unit was fairly expensive I will most likely use a cheap electric saw and fasten it to my backhoe bucket. ....

Cutter,

Now that you mention it it looks like the saw in the picture is electric too. Also looks like an orange cord going down the pole. A electric saw would make sense, because it's just on or off...no remote control for the throttle needed. A good idea!

I am not so sure how easy it would be to position the loader if you had a good deal of trimming to do but for the occasional dangerous situation it would work fine. On the backhoe bucket it will be very easy to position. ....

Don't know if this qualifies as "photo of the day", but I thought I'd share it with you folks anyway.

This picture was taken early this morning, after a heavy overnight fog. The frost on the trees matches the snow on the ground.

I did a little searching and discovered that the above photo was taken in Greensburg, Kansas, on July 11th, 2007.
A tornado had ripped the town to shreds, and one of the largest John Deere dealerships was directly in its path.

The above photo shows just a small amount of the damage that took place at that dealership.

KThompson: not really. Saw one at an auction once and it looked pretty bulky, and would require tapping into the hydraulics, whereas I just plug in my light-weight 8" Remington. I've never seen a hydraulic one for sale, so they can't be all that popular around here, but I wouldn't be surprised if electric linesmen use them.

I just happened to look at Just For Fun / Off Topic for the 1st time and seen my picture of the Poor Man's Pole Saw. What a shock!! The saw is Electric that I got for $20.00. You can't see the generator it's in my rear carryall. If you make one the saw has to be spring loaded so if you put too much down pressure it can move up.I just load the sring alittle and the saw goes right thru. It also has to move sideways so it's also spring loaded. If it's not spring loaded you well brake it off and bend your poles.
It works real well and very safe. Just keep the saw blade sharp. You can sure trim alot of trees in a short time.
The draw back is, on some trees you can't get real close to the tree.
