My Kubota has a full length frame. That's a major reason I purchased that brand.

Thanks for starting this thread KT, and Dennis for maintaining the site for so many years.

Honestly, it's been so many years that I don't recall exactly when I joined. I'm thinking it was back in the 90s based upon my first compact tractor and research I did to sort out the brand differences. 1992 was the year that we moved to our current location, finally aquiring a bit more land, so that date could be close. Either way, it's always been a pleasure interacting with people on this site.

I retired in 2006, took the summer off, then accepted a position offered to me the day I left the utility business (I was not ready to jump back in that quickly). As a young man, my family had me working from 13 years old, much of that was my summer vacation. Not forced labor, but a good opportunity for me to learn a work ethic at an early age. So I had a retirement summer and it was great! The new job began in January 2007 and was a perfect fit for me. I found myself working from a home office and traveling around the state training for the one-call center. It was supposed to be part time, but during the busy season the work called for sometimes 80 hours a week. The company recognized the situation and placed me on full-time ie more $$.

That career ended in 2015. I suffered a heart attack in 2013 which prompted me to have a serious talk with myself about reducing stress and actually living the life I had been working so hard to have.

But true to form, I gradually over volunteered myself and ended up with another attack last December. Fortunately all is OK, but it did force me to take another look at my life and slow down a bit. The political aspect is the biggest stressor, so I've made the commitment to not run for office again once my term expires. The fire department is more my focus now, I'm treasurer and an active first responder. I was heavily involved with the church but have recently backed away from duties within. Unfortunately, some bishops feel the need to have political views preached in the churches they control. I don't go there to listen to that.

The wife will most likely retire in the fall. So again, life will change. As it stands, I do most everything at home, inside and out. If she retires it will allow me to focus more on the external property needs.

We are avid boaters and campers. I'm currently restoring a 40 year old cutter rig sailboat. The motorhome is an oldie, I've spent many hours and left blood all over that one too. Sometimes I wish the powerboat was back in her slip. Lake Ontario levels are unreliable at best now that plan 2014 is in effect.

In 2018 I traveled alone to Florida twice in order to assist my 92 year old uncle. He passed away a month after I left the state the first time, so back I went. He was a WWII vet whom served in the South Pacific. His home in Miami was a mess between his housekeeping and the local's stealing. I saved what I could, including his medals and his and his father in law's uniforms. One lady whom volunteered for the veterans helped herself to a good chunk of his money. We reported it, but Florida is so full of elder abuse and theft that it pretty much goes unpunished. Much of my family is or has been living in Florida for some time. Honestly, I really do like it there.

So that is about it for me, except for one thing. My picture is a 1992 Springer which I sold a number of years ago. I really miss an occasional ride, so this past winter, at an auction, I "accidentally" picked up an old 1982 Low Rider. Life is cyclical.

KT it's around 9200# if I recall correctly, 500# heavier than the comparable Case 310, but more expensive also. The swing up door and direct hydraulic controls is what convinced me to go with the Kubota.

I'm looking for the brush mower, I'll check the other brands mentioned, thanks.

All I can say is that I had a shorted glow plug and that took out a fuse located under the hood. If not that, start tracing power supply from ignition switch to the battery to see where you lose it. Good luck

Attended a farm auction Saturday and succumbed to the look of an old John Deere, figured it would do nicely pulling a 5 or 6 foot bush hog around. The owner was there, told me it had a hydraulic leak, said he never fixed it just kept adding fluid. It's low now, suspect Tractor Supply all purpose fluid would be fine unless someone has a better choice for me. <br>

Knowing noting about this machine, I have been searching for information. I did discover all the specs, however, I need a maintenance manual as I intend to go through it and change all filters and fluids. <br>

If anyone has advise for me relative to this model I would greatly appreciate it. Hopefully I'm able to attach a picture I took.

My Kubota temp gauge will not move until after some heavy use, even in the summer! Yet the heater is blowing hot air within a brief period of time (two or three minutes at best) when I warm the unit at 1500 RPM. Once I use it at higher RPMs to accomplish some work, the needle dues move up but not much. Been this way since new.

Will it crank over? Back in 2000, my newly delivered TC29 blew the fuse near the firewall immediately when I hit the glow plugs, one had shorted out, killing power to the ignition.

Agree 100% with what Murf stated in his reply. A local dealer loaned me a three point hitch finish mower to use while he had my finish mower in for exchange. I tried it in an area which had already been cut with my Bush Hog and even that was too much for the finish mower.

I did exactly the same thing this weekend on her Outback. Before I began I had warmed the engine, placed cardboard down in expectation of some poor aim as well. That oil shot out as though under pressure but fortunately most of it went onto the cardboard, all but perhaps half a cup. I know next time to move the oil tray more to the leeward side of the drain hole.

Sometimes the rental agencies offer vehicles which can be had for a substantial discount. My credit union will finance them right on the spot, the prices are generally on the windshield of each car offered. These units are a year old, perhaps two and come with a warranty. I have owned at least three of these vehicles.

Well, this is some Thanksgiving! I too, am happy to be here for another one after what I have been through this year. BUT today was just one more reason to thank God for His help. A friend rented the local gun club for folks who had no place to go. We all brought a dish to pass to accompany the turkeys he cooked. Unfortunately, someone placed a live candle inside a decorative Thanksgiving display which just happened to catch fire when everyone was in the other room. Long story short, we put the fire out but not before it burned two tables. We got to it JUST in time, it was ready to go out of control and in fact by the time we got hold of the fire extinguishers the room was filled with toxic smoke. We cleaned until a short time ago, got back home and my clothes are all soot and I am exhausted. My wife was with me and she now knows why I don't allow burning anything in our home. God Bless you all and again, I thank Him that we were all OK and able to save the building.

Sorry to hear of that issue. IMHO it makes it harder to swallow when the manufacturer knows of the problem and provides an improved kit to fix the issue without consideration for the few that may have to pay the full shot for a repair. Granted it's well out of warranty, but still, a design defect might warrant a discount on the parts or labor to maintain good customer relations.

Murf is of course correct, however, I had the Curtis loader blade and got rid of it in favor of using the loader bucket and rear mounted blower. The loader blade would be fine if you plow commercially but I did not like it's functionality for a gravel driveway nor did I care for losing the use of the bucket. The one I had did not come off and on easily either. Murf's idea for building the blade from plow parts is a better one as it allows it to free float. Curtis does not do that unless you use the float function on the loader which will allow the front end to lift etc...
