He was a fellow pilot and aviation enthusiast and an all-round nice guy.

I met him several times since we both owned the same model of airplane, a Cessna Caravan, and mine is a modified ‘hot rod’ version so he wanted to pick my brain on it.

He was a very genuine person who left this earth far too early.

From your description I’d start with safety switches, PTO is shut off, seat switch if there is one, HST pedal in neutral, etc, etc.

The moulds for the castings were made prior to the break-up of the USSR and money was pretty tight for a very long time afterwards so they just kept making parts using what they had.

Much the same reason I suppose you buy a “brand new” Ford 3000 or MF 135 built in India. They have become a huge supplier of new parts for older tractors. I bought a hydraulic remote valve block from an Indian supplier and was surprised to see the FoMoCo logo in it.

Ain’t that the truth my friend!! I was down the east coast earlier this spring to a 40th reunion at Cherry Point NC and in planning the trip thought of a couple of folks I’d like to (finally) visit with along the way there or on through to Florida.

Unfortunately my 94 year old fathers health turned a planned month long trip into a 2 day trip.

Kenny my friend, we call those *special* people “citiots”.

They’re pretty easy to spot;

-they think the lines painted on the road are made using explosive paint, they can’t move over them into an empty oncoming lane to give pedestrians or bicyclists a safety buffer..

-they will come to a full stop to make a left turn when the oncoming lane is empty. I’ve seen several accidents when folks tried to pass that slow moving traffic and the turning vehicle suddenly appeared in front of them. Bang.

-they drive at the same speed, regardless of weather, road conditions or traffic.

There’s some very underrated offshore companies that we just don’t hear much about.

I recall a sales rep at a farm show back in the late 80’s telling me how this huge old Asian fam tractor maker had just started production at its brand new facility in Georgia, and so they were no longer ‘grey market’ tractors and would soon have a dealer network to support its product. I took a gamble and gave them my contact info for a salesman to contact me.

In the years that followed I built a business based around the quality and performance of those smaller tractors. They did things ‘conventional’ tractors just couldn’t do in those days.

Today, 35 years later, I still have a fleet of those tractors, I am also part owner of that dealership I bought those tractors from.

Never underestimate the underdog……

You say ‘good fuel pressure’. How did you measure it?

Did you have the injectors checked / replaced at the same time as the pump was done?

Typically there’s a large (2”?) cap on the top of the rear end. The fluid level is often checked by a ‘sight glass’ further down on the differential, but sometimes by a dipstick.

You must have the FEL (if equipped) , the 3pth, and any other hydraulics, all the way down when checking the fluid level.

I’ve been flying aluminum airplanes for more than 40 years, flying in them nearly 20 years longer than that.

The weight or type of cargo is moot, as long as it’s loaded correctly. I’ve flown aircraft with more than 30 tons of payload, still way below its rated capacity. No issues.

Now in the hands of someone my grandfather would have described as “someone who could break an anvil with a rubber hammer”…… all bets are off.

There is too many factors and variables, to even try to calculate the pulling force of a given Tractor.

I can tell you this, though, unless it’s a very, very very small stump there is no chance you’re going to just pull it out with a tractor of that size.

If the filter was dirty the dirt got there via the fuel tank first. It’s likely the outflow from the tank and / fuel lines are clogged too.

Have a good look at everything and (carefully) give the fuel line a puff of compressed air to see that it bubbles back to the tank.

Hard to tell without seeing it in person, but I’ve seen split trunks felled by wrapping them in strong steel cables to keep them together long enough to drop them.

They ran a similar system on the Ford tractors called “Thermostart”, but with a clever twist.

The fuel reservoir for the heater was inline with the excess fuel return line from the injectors to the tanks, the fuel only got to the tank when the reservoir was full.

It would probably be fairly easy to reproduce on your unit.

First off, RPM is mechanical not electric and the tach cables are notorious for failure, and readily available.

Secondly, are you sure the issue with the fuel gauge isn�t the sender in the tank? Or a bad ground or other wiring issue?

Thirdly, almost every Ford / New Holland tractor made in the last 60�ish years uses the same basic shape & type of instrument cluster.

As you will need to find in the future, Ford was the epitome of shard parts, if you look up some of them you will see they fit (literally) pages of different models.

I�d be leaning towards the problem being the power steering (PS) box. I say that because typically the system is set up with the PS as the priority circuit for safety. The PS gets its power first, only then does the excess go to other things like the loader and motive power.

From the description you definitely have a hydraulic circuit dead-headed, that�s what�s robbing the hydraulic power. The noise you�re hearing is the pressure relief valve opening & closing at super speed.

One thought though, is the loader (or it�s control valve) a recent addition? I ask because I�ve seen something similar before when someone added the wrong type of valve. Some are �open center� some are �closed center�, they cannot be switched.

Most that I�ve spoken to up here run Shell Rotella 15W40 all year-round in the engine. With a rad hose type of block heater it�s never a truly �cold start� and the engine seems to start better.

If you don�t already have one (or more) get a magnetic block heater for the transmission/ hydraulics, it makes a huge difference in performance when first started.

Parts should be available through the North American importer. If not directly they should be able direct you to a dealer much closer than Europe.

Both Belarus and Zetor tractors were pretty popular here in Canada as utility machines, especially for work in the woods, firewood, Maple syrup, etc.
