Thinking ‘bout moving up from a 2210 to either a 4110 or 4115. As a first-run price check, I called my dealer to see what “ballpark” numbers we’re looking at. Here’s what he came back with:
Trade in credit on 2210 with 62” mmm and fel = $10000 (I paid $12600 new)
The 4110 with turfs, 60”mmm and fel = $16400
The 4115 with turfs, 60”mmm and fel = $18600
So, I’m looking at $6400 to move up to a 4110, and $8600 to move up to the 4115.
The $2600 depreciation hit on the 2210, seems reasonable on a 1-year old unit. I suppose, like a car, you take the biggest depreciation hit the first year. But as a good repeat customer, the prices on the 4110 and 4115 seem kind of high?
Also, I’m struggling with whether I’m really gaining $6400 worth of features, power, or functionality. Hindsight always being 20/20, I should have went with the 4110 to begin with.

I don't see $6000 plus difference for a 4110 vs., 2210 even though we are comparing used vs. new with new to new comparsion of $2500 difference (2210 outfit vs 4110). If you are considering that jump, then make it worth your while and get the 4210, which will either be the same price or just slightly higher than the 4115 and be a much greater jump between equipment and lesser to price. ....

What uses are you putting your 2210 to that causes you to feel you need a 4110? Although somewhat smaller and limited in capacities; I would think that the 2210 could do pretty much everything a 4110 can do; just in smaller bites. I would suggest going with the 4115. If you have designs on a back hoe the 4115 is much better suited. It seems that you wish to stay with the small frame tractors of the 4000 Ten Series and going with the most capable will not leave you wondering if you should have gone the last step and purchased the 4115. ....

You may be able to sell your 2210 outright for $11.5k or so. Dealers never give you full value on trade. ....

The intended uses are: grading and seeding 1.5 acres, mowing 2.5 acres, tilling a garden, snow removal (200’ rock drive), rock driveway maintenance, leveling an area for a barn, various other landscaping projects.
The way I had it in my mind, the 2210 and 4110 are nearly identical power-wise, even though the 2210 is listed at 23 hp and the 4110 at 20. The PTO hp of both are nearly the same, and I would venture to speculate that with the lower rpm and taller tires, the 4110 actually puts more power and torque to the ground.
Other plus’s with the 4110 are: True Cat 1 3ph with position control, split brakes, option for rear hydraulics with additional control valves.

I certainly understand moving from a sub-compact to a compact. I did the same thing last year and am very happy with the decision.
Are you decided on Green. You can get into a 24hp or even 30hp Orange for less money than you quoted. You may want to look at other options.

Although not a 100% committed to “green”, I would have to say that at this point, I lean that way very strongly.
I was hoping that dealer loyalty would help on the trade-in value, and being a repeat customer would help on the price of new equipment.
Also, I much prefer the “Twin Touch” style pedals, compared to the treadle or rocker style. ....

Well, my dealer called today and left a message, that John Deere has just released some “new incentives”. The trade-in differential on a 4110 dropped by $182 to $6218, and the cost differential on the 4115 dropped by $372 to $8282.
So, the pricing is slightly more attractive, but I’m still very much undecided what to do. ....

Hi, ScooterMagee. I did exactly what you are proposing under slightly different conditions. My trade-in value ended up being effectively higher due to some concessions for inconvenience from a warranty issue suffered during most of the first year I owned the tractor. Ultimately, I kinda' wish I would have bought the bigger tractor in the first place, but have no real complaints with the 2210. The increased power/speed of the hydraulics along with the other items you mentioned were justification for me to choose an upgrade over a replacement for my 2210. The 4110 has quite a few other "deluxe" touches, such as cruise control and vibration dampening in the floor boards. Folding ROPS and swinging draw bar are a couple more. Good luck. If you can afford it (truly), go for it. If you can afford the next step up, go for it too. It really doesn't sound like you need much more than the 41XX, but who am I to judge. <8~) Pete ....

I would keep my eyes open for a slightly used 4100 or 4110
which if you sold your 2210 you might make it a wash...
Why take a large hit like that? save that hit for a backhoe attachment!!

No, I never did make the trade. Even with my wife being behind me 100% for trading-up, I just couldn’t justify the difference in dollars. So now my plan is to wait for the next evolution of the forty-ten series, see what’s new and improved, then re-evaluate the cost-to-benefit ratio. ....
