My Kioti 35 has been overheating the last two times I used it. I cleaned off the front screen and checked fluids ... no problem there. Took the side off and found that the radiator fan had no blades. Thinking that something go hung up when brushhogging and sheared the blades right off. My question: would it be hard to replace this fan myself?

Marehaven,
It's not a difficult job, but for the fact that you'll end up taking out the radiator before you can get to the fan.
This means you'll have to drain your coolant, disconnect the radiator hoses, remove the grill, side panels, and possibly the battery before being able to do the job.
Additionally, since the fan blades broke off while the tractor was running, you may find that the blades made contact with the radiator. Your radiator may be damaged. At the very least, you'll likely have to get yourself a radiator "comb" and straighten out those fins that got crushed flat by the flying blades.

Joel ......
Would this also involve taking off the fan belt? I am a woman and can kinda/sorta do some mechanical work but fighting belts would not be one of them.

Marehaven,
I don't believe you'll have to remove the belt. The plastic cooling fan should be bolted to the front of a pulley.
I could be wrong on that, as I'm not very familiar with the Kioti line of tractors. However, for this sort of work, most compact tractors are designed pretty much the same way.
You may also want to take a look at the fan shroud. It may be cracked or broken, as well.

I am amazed, the blades were sheared off and nothing else was damaged! Count yourself blessed.
Joel, are you sure you have to removed the radiator? Kim, look, you may have room to change out the blade without removing the radiator and then you may not. Hopefully someone who knows this tractor fan blade set up will chime in. kt ....

Phone some rad shops and ask if they could supply and weld on replacement fan blades. If maybe, I'd take the hood off for them, and drive or trailer the tractor in. ....

Unless I'm mistaken it's a plastic fan.
It would be tough to weld. ;)
Best of luck. ....

Hey guys ...... I called our Kioti dealers head mechanic, who just happens to do repair work on the side. He drove out 30 miles with a new plastic fan and had it installed within half an hour. The radiator did not have to be touched but the protective shroud was taken off to allow the fan in.
He also tightened up some bolts on the front end loader and did a quick check of oil ..... only charged us $94.
I watched him and am confident that I could do it myself if it ever happens again. Can't believe there was no radiator damage!
Thanks for all your input ....
