 Backhoe for 7510

My brother-in-law, who is also my neighbor, is having regrets. He now wishes he had gone in on the 7510 I bought last month. I am happy to let him buy in (as opposed to ketting him use the tractor at will for free). Looking at recent posts about the usefulness of a backhoe, and knowing that I have water lines to put in a barn, and am in the beginning stages of building a new house, what about having him buy a backhoe for the tractor? What does one cost? And how useful do you think a hoe that will fit on a 7510 will be? Also, how easy are they to take on and off?

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

There are some very nice B/H's for that model. Every one I have seen has a PTO mounted pump and a separate oil reservoir.

That makes it a little more complicated to mount and dismount, but it is still probably a 15 minute change-over.

I am looking at the Kubota back hoe which is about $6500. I was going to built one myself. I just don't have the time to do so. The after market ones run about $5000-$6000.

On a tractor as new as yours, I would stay with the Kubota backhoe. It is engineered for your tractor and will not void your warranty or cause you some expensive problems from use. Some of the aftermarket units are not engineered specifically for your tractor. Be especially cautious of three point mounted units without a subframe.

 Backhoe for 7510

Oliver,
Just purchased A B7510HST with a 302FEL and it's matched B4672A BH, have not taken it off yet and have no plans to do so in the near future. The main reason I bought this Matched rig is to work around the lake front and put in a small landscaped water pond out back and misc. digging chores.
I have a TG 186 w/54"deck to maintain 2+ acres of lawn, lots of trees and sloped front to lake.
I am not new to back hoe's having owned two much larger, having said that I can tell you this hoe is very well balanced and equally smooth and strong (the trick to any BH is a smooth application of force and allowing the machine to work up to the task at hand) NOT BRUTE FORCE...
The separate hyd. pump that runs off the back PTO at 540 RPM'S with not much more than 1500 engine RPM'S just dug out two stumps about 18' in dia. she never broke a sweat...
1.Price will vary and a better deal wold be made buying as a package but at least you probably will do well going back to your original dealer.
2.Make sure to install a sub frame and Kubotas does not lower the original ground clearance.
Hope this helps you and I will be happy to ans. any questions you have!
Dean

If I was looking to buy a used tractor w/backhoe I would tend to avoid any that had non factory hoes. There are just too many possible problems there to deal with. An aftermarket backhoe also may not have the resale value that a factory backhoe would have. IMHO and FWIW.

Very helpful coments thus far. I will suggest to my brother-in-law that he buy a hoe; we'll see where it goes from there.

I have a b7500 with backhoe and love it. I really debated buying it at the time (almost 6k more) but I am glad I did. It comes in very handy.

I have not taken it off yet. I'm interested in the 15 minutes someone suggested...I'll have to give it a try.
