What is the best battery to buy for a Kubota L2850?

Old one is giving up the ghost.

I would recommend an AGM battery (AGM is a technology, not a brand). They are rugged, don't outgas, don't contain liquid acid that can spill or splash and self-discharge at a lower rate than standard lead acid batteries.

Optimas used to be a good brand but I heard they were bought out and the quality has gone way downhill.

Find out what group battery is in your machine and then google. IIRC the battery I put in my JD is an "MK" brand and it's been fine. ....

Thanks, I was going to look at the AGM batteries because they bounce around in the tractor so much. I guess I need to find out what size the L2850 takes then do a comparison for the best AGM. ....

I agree about Optimas--they USED to be the gold-standard for off-road use. I bought one about 5 years ago and it was a POS. And at nearly $200 what a joke. And they have two levels of "quality" too--red and yellow. Me thinks the one I bought--the lesser quality--came off the other's reject line. ....

The simplest and cheapest solution is to bring yours to a supplier who has lots of stock and ask for a match. You want one at least as big and with the same terminal arrangement.

You can't go by brand. In tests, one brand is best in one size or category, another in a different one. No one brand was the best overall. And despite the dozens of brands, they are most all made by one of just a handful of manufacturers.

The new glass-mat technology is appropriate for extreme application or environmental applications (as in aircraft) but your Kubota will be quite happy with the old lead-acid technology. ....

A couple of weeks back went looking for battery for my pickup. Stopped at Advance Auto and almost fell over when I saw the price of their batteries. There were at least 25% higher than they were. EW they had three different different Optimas batteries with a blue color also. Went to my tractor dealership who is also a parts store and bought Interstate for about $25 less than Advance was for same size battery.

I replaced the batteries in my Kubotas with the same size lead acid as AB suggested and pleased with mine. That was last year. ....

I just use standard lead acid batteries. For lawn, garden, tractor and marine/(Deep cycle) stuff I like the Deka brand available at my local Cub-Cadet/CNH dealer. They are reasonably priced (about $37.00 for lawn tractor batteries with 350 CCA's-just bought two this morning) and they last between 4 and 6 years. ....
