I have a 3000W Pincor with a 8hp B&S electeic start. I was getting no output so I removed the end cap and the cermanic (?) resistor is broken in half, as the brushes are attached to this I am assumming that is the problem. Every parts place I checked online states Pincor parts are not available. My options seem to be buy a salvage piece or sell mine for salvage. Any info appreciated. Thanks. Dan

Can you read the resistor value off the broken one? Maybe you can buy a new resistor and solder in a replacement. Seems worth a try. ....

By the way, it's possible the resistor broke because there is too much slop in the bearings. If armature shaft wobbles back and forth in loose bearings the vibration could have broken the resistor, or something else. Some inexpensive generators (Coleman) use cheap nylon bearings that have caused all sorts of problems. ....

This is one of those cases where a picture would be worth a thousand words. If you can take it to an industrial electric repair shop or motor winder they will be able to repair it for you if it it worth repairing. ....

Danwhitworth,
I agree with AnnBrush. If you were to take this generator into a repair shop, they'd probably be able to repair it for you for very little money.
They'll quickly identify the bad part (fusible link?) and replace it for you.

Being a small output genny, I'd look up a good mower and power equipment repair shop that works on homeowner-type gennys. My Generac when new blew what was called the "diode pack" which sounds like what you are describing which was on the very end. It was a $30 part. It's possible Coleman or a host of other mfg's use the same part. ....
