I made a fatal mistake buying this tractor because if anything on the electronic side fails you must take it back to the dealer. If a code sets on the computer you must take it in to be cleared even after the repairs of a broken wire is completed. I purchased all the manuals for the unit as which are poor as they were not up to date at the time of purchase. I even asked to purchase the software for my laptop computer no was the answer even for the shop analyzer. I feel I paid the extra price for the electronics at least sell me the tools to maintain the thing. The price of fuel to take it back costs more than the Mickey Mouse computer thatís already been replaced once.

What happens if the broken wire is fixed and you don't reset the code? Will it eventually clear itself? IMO, any design of consumer equipment should be resilient and not require special intervention after problems are repaired. ....

My understanding was that if you disconnected the battery, then completely drained any residual power by shorting the disconnected terminal to the other one it would clear the memory and reset all the codes.

Maybe Tony (oneace) will chime in on this one.

Best of luck. ....

I have an '02 New Holland TC33D and an '05 NH LS 185.b skid steer. Neither has the level of sophisticated electronics you mention. I will agree NH falls way short on technician training---when my skid steer electronics took a dump a week after I had it, the dealer siad they never had been trained nor had any manuals for it. It ttok them a week to find a bad $15 diode.

What machine do you have? ....

Its a TN75 with shuttle shift . I have took it back 3 times for the clutches to be recalibrated and replaced one ECM.I repaired the 4 wheel interlock wires 2 times. Of course it must go back to clear out the fault codes. this is all in with about 350 hrs on the tractor. If I had the NH software I would be able to clear the codes and adjust the shuttle clutches myself. I consider myself faily savy on electronics and PLC controls and not to bad on mechainical repairs as I still have my certs on heavy truck automotive repair. ....

One of the mods should move this thread to the right area. I see no complaints about JD or Kubota in the price sections for their boards. This goes on too often in the New Holland Price area.
Thank you ....

Thanks for the heads-up, Nelson. I'm looking for a replacement, and New Holland just went from the top of my list of possibilities to the bottom. They make a fine tractor, but all tractors will need maintenance and servicing, and I like to do whatever I can myself. ....

Sounds to me that a transmission bearing is wiped out. Have you checked the fluid level? If it's very low it's probably too late. ....
