Rick, is that 2110 a gasoline or diesel engine? Tractortips.com shows it to be gas (I don't know where they get their information and don't know about their reliability and accuracy, but do find it an interesting and informative web site). The Shell Rotella T 15W-40 is also a popular oil down here in Texas, although I think the Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 may be even more popular and is the one I use. My brother also uses the same oil in his Caterpillar diesel powered truck here in Texas and years ago he was using it in his 18-wheelers in Alaska, so yes they can be used year round. Of course, quite a few people are going to the synthetics, if you don't mind paying more for it, and I think one of the major benefits of the synthetics is for use in extreme cold.

Mark, all four of the brands you named have good reputations, but the only one I've had personal experience with is the Bush Hog, and I've been very happy with their implements. I had one of their 48" brush hogs, but when I traded up to a larger tractor, I traded up in size and down in quality for a cheaper 60" brush hog. I'm still using my Bush Hog RTS40 tiller (a little over 5 years now) and I'm using a Bush Hog RDTH-60 finish mower (and I paid $1695 for it just over a year ago). No complaints whatever with any of the ones I've owned (except price maybe).

As I intimated, I'm in the market for a Boomer 29 or 33 (D with SS). I have seen some used ones in the market, some with low hours but nearly expired warranties. From my perusal of the tractor boards, it seems like this model is fairly trouble free (but obviously a new line), aside from the steering column problem you indicated. Should I be concerned? Were there any bugs cleared up between the 1999 and 2000 models? (I'm looking at a 1999.)

Jim,
I have a 60" JD belly mower. I have used two methods:
1) mower removed: Lift front and lean against a vertical surface.
2) mower installed: jack up front of tractor using a floor jack.

The key to removing the blades is using an impact wrench.
The rest is easy. Right?

I just read the messages posted earlier in August about a safety kit for JD loaders (the loaders fall off?) I received a JD 4100 with loader early in August. While I have used the loader some with no problems (pulled fence posts, hauled some gravel), am I using a potentially dangerous machine? How would one know if his loader needs this safety kit?

I have a MF 1250. For a while I ran two 100w lights on the single plug I was refering to. It did just fine. Two of the 55w could be handled very well by the circuit. The plug is a keyed source so, your lights will go off when you turn the tractor off.

Scott, what is the possibility that one of the members at the John Deere Augusta meeting could write a report on the "get together" for the rest of us? I won't be here to read it as I'm off on vacation for a few weeks....but if it generated half the interest that this thread did it would be worthwhile.

Are you letting the mower blades stop turning before you try to disengage the PTO lever? The electric switch may be turned off at any time, but when you turn the lever off, you need to have the implement stopped.

i just purchased a nh 2110 but no operator manual was given with tractor , i need to know what oil and fuel filter number to use as well as any brand of filter recomendations and weight of oil as well as oil grade needed. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have a 970 and i put a 7 foot farmking finishing mower on it. the power is adequate and i mow in 4 th gear. oh by the way the 950 has a front/rear ratio of 1.750:1 and the 970 is 1.691:1 but other than the difference in tire sizes they are very similiar.

Rick, I have no information at all about a price increase, but you notice that Carver took down the prices on his web site and says to check back after the holidays, so I'm inclined to guess that your dealer was right about there being a price increase.

i have a belly mower for a B6100; i haven't figured out how it all goes together yet, but on this one, the part on the front is an electric clutch, just like on a car air conditioner; there is a lot of parts that are fastened to the lower part of the tractor to mount the mower. i don't know how a B6100 compares to what you have..

I believe the 990's are out now. You should easily be able to pic one up for $16,000 (hopefully a little less with hagleing, but I've yet to have much luck with tractor dealers and hagling.) with 4wd, Dscv, and Ag tires. R4's will cost you approx $400, Turf tires $200.

I have a 332 and believe it is a 18 Hp. It is based on the 318 chassis/frame. The lower series tractors below the 318 have different frames but are all hydrostats. I also have the same amount of hours on my 332. The primary use of my 332 is for blowing snow in North Dakota. The machine is a 1985. Has never been necessary to preform any other maintenance other than for routine service.
Also have a 318. The difference in the amount of fuel each of these machines use is incredible. The 318 will go through 10 gallons per day. The 332 can run two days and still has 1 gallon in the tank. Paid $5,500.00 4 years ago for the 332. There is a gas version of the 332 model around but I'm not certian of the model number. JD found that the customer didn't like the diesel exhaust at startup in the garage. So they converted the 332 Yanmar engine to a fuel injected gas engine. I highly recommend this tractor as a lawn and garden tractor.

I have had my 4400 with 430 loader and 48 backhoe since April 2000. It has the new axle. I love the tractor. The only problem I have seen is a fuel guage that isn't accurate (dealer is fixing under warranty). Although I experience a little hydraulic drift on the backhoe valve over time, it does not compromise the amazing performance of this backhoe/tractor setup. My reasons for going green were that I wanted a setup where I alone could attach/detach a loader, backhoe, and belly mower (next year) quickly and easily, but have all three implements compatible with each other. For example, if I wanted to mount the backhoe and loader for a quick job I don't have to remove the belly mower. JD is the only one among the pack that allowed this level of ease and compatibility. I think that the JD loader and backhoe on this size tractor are the best around, except for Kubota B21 or L35, which are specialty machines that won't take a belly mower. I also have a great dealer.

Kelly, I don't know whether Kubota made any B7100s with the fan blowing forward or not, but I bought a new 1995 B7100 and it blew the hot air back in the normal manner.

Rick, thanks for the reply. I am considering the Woods loader because the NH 7308 is rated for 800lbs of lift capacity while many of the other brands (Kubota and Deere)in this same class are closer to 1000lbs. The Woods is rated at 1200lbs.

Thanks all for the input. I'm negotiating with the dealer for a 33D, no SS, loader, belly mower and rotary cutter, R4s, filled rears and weighted fronts. I looked at but did not drive a 35D, and felt it a bit large for a few spaces I've got and more of a challenge for my wife. I'll keep the board "posted" as to whether and where we end up.
