I am planning to add a rear work light on my MF 1240 in time for the winter when days get shorter.Can anybodu tell me where to wire (plug in) the work light on a 1240? My light has two wires. There seems to be a large unused multiple-contact plug under the left fender, and also some single prong plugs.Any help would be much appreciated. Markus

Markus, spend two bucks at your local auto store for a twelve volt test light and you will be able to see what you have back there. If you want them to come on with your headlights, splice into the tail light circuit. I switched mine independantly, utilizing an unused plug such as the one you describe. ....

If you will look at the group of wires that goes to your tail lights you will find a single female plug that is not connected to anything. It is the hot wire for your aux.lights. There is one on both sides of the tractor. The large wire plug by your left fender you were refering to is for a trailer connection.

I wired two independently switched 55W lights directly from the battery and used an in-line fuse-holder. There are no aux outlets on my tractor. In addition, I figured the load from two lights might exceed the capacity of an existing circuit. Besides, running from the battery was an easier hookup than using a blank slot on the fuse block.
I'd give some thought to the location of the light. If it goes on a canopy, remember there is less clearance. I almost tore off the front light on a tree limb I was used to going under. I did tear off the rear light with the carriage tilt on my 3ph pallet forks. Of course, most people probably don't have an implement that goes above the canopy.

I have a MF 1250. For a while I ran two 100w lights on the single plug I was refering to. It did just fine. Two of the 55w could be handled very well by the circuit. The plug is a keyed source so, your lights will go off when you turn the tractor off.
