my husband is a mechanic and we are having trouble with our gator it is doing the same thing as the previous person..we replace the coil and went to the local john deer store to get an igniton module and the part he gave me is small in size kind of looks like a key... we were told is to be replaced right on the top but we cannot find it. the part is about the size of a quarter and has a single wire tab to connect. can you help? it just quit and will not start after replacing that coil..no spark and we know about a dead battery thats not the problem

Matter of fact, I just finished rebuilding a 74" flail a coupla weeks ago. Need to work on the paint job now, before it starts getting too hot.<br>

My apologies. Yes as kthompson said a slasher is a rough cut mower.

I will have a look at the temperature difference between different areas of the radiator. The only thing that comes to mind is a lack of coolant flow around the radiator due to either blockage or water pump issue. Whilst using the slasher I do bump up the RPM and usually stay in 2nd or 3rd gear (depending on ground conditions).

As for the manual, i'll get in contact with the factory. Thought i saw one floating around ebay too.

I've come across a cheap 6X4 Gator on an auction site in New Zealand.It appears to be in quite good condition. Whilst I already own a 6X4, this one is so cheap, I'm considering it as a spare machine. The owner says it is a 1995 model, but it has a 16hp Briggs and Stratton air-cooled engine in it and no hour meter. Apart from that and the lack of wiring harness,everything else seems as you'd expect.<br>
Does anybody here know if the 6X4 came out with this engine fitted,or has it been replaced at some time?

I just purchased what I think is a 2002 TX Turf model (PIN W00TURF005700) with the pedal start and a "microscopic" engine. Hopefully, I'll get used to its lack of power. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the power? Also, is there any adjustment that can be made to the pedal start that might make "crawl" speed smoother?<br>

As EW kind of hinted at, you won't find them, they don't exist.

The 5 bolt rim only goes up as big as 15", at 16" or bigger they are 6, 8 or 10 bolts per wheel.

If you are determined to go to 16" tires you will have to change the hubs and brakes if they are available for your spindle, otherwise you will need to change axles.

All of that is also dependent on whether or not the larger wheels will fit inside your fenders and such.

One very simple item COULD be the belt on the alternator needs tightening as it is slipping.

My 4310 is a 12/12 reverser transmission so I couldn't look under mine to see what's there. I did look it up in my service manual and by the looks of it there are several little levers, pins, etc that might be dry and need a bit of WD-40 or sometning to limber them up. Frank.

To the full mark on the dipstick with gear oil. The one hole covers all the front end parts.

I've had this zebra for a little over a year with the bucket detached sitting in the garage. I've been able to find the correct pump, but nobody seems to be able to find the plate to attach the pump to the tractor. Does anybody have any leads?

I'll check the brakes as I noticed that the LH side pedal has been lower than normal, I thought that I needed to bleed it. The screen has been clear all along.

Is it in the dash or in the tank? The ones in the tank fall apart all the time. You just have to pry the top out of the tank and fish the parts out and put it back together. If it's in the dash, I guess you need a new one.
