Hi all,

My Lamborghini 775-f tractor has been overheating ever since i bought it at 900 hours. It now has 970 hours. The temperature gradually increases until it reaches the red, but increases faster when under load (usually when using a 6ft slasher). It takes about 20-30 minutes to hit the red. The slasher is rated to 70hp and the tractor is 75hp. But even without the slasher it overheats.

Only on one occasion has the coolant steamed out a little. Other times, you can hear the coolant boiling inside the engine when the temperature approaches and hits the red.

I have replaced the radiator reservoir cap (radiator itself has no cap). I have removed the thermostat but it still overheats, albeit a little slower. The fan and all belts are in good nick. Replacing with new coolant did nothing to keep the engine cool.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be. I have read around and people have mentioned having the radiator cleaned out as it might be blocked. I find it hard to believe the radiator could be that blocked inside at such low hours. Also people have mentioned water pump problems. There are no coolant leakages and the tractor is always run as low RPM. The heaviest load is the slasher.

Any help would be fantastic.
Also any ideas where to get a service manual for this tractor? Can't find one anywhere...

Kindly,

Ron

Email the factory to ask about manuals. Lambos are sold the world over, but not every model was meant for an Englsih-lang country.

Find a garage or engine shop that has a tool that tests a coolant sample for signs of a leaking head gasket (unless it's obvious from coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant).

If the gasket seems OK, have a rad or tractor shop test the rad and power-flush the block.

No idea what a slasher is. ....

I think the slasher is what most here call a rough cut mower.

As to the engine overheating: clogged air filter will cause it to run hot. A suggestion is to get a infared remote thermomentor and check the temp of the radiator core in different places to see if there are cool areas showing coolant is not running through those veins. It is my understanding the thermostat being totally out will cause an engine to run hotter (You will find those who argue this both ways.)as the coolant does not have time to transfer temp as it desgined to. Is it possible you are running the engine at too low a RPM with such a load as the slasher or too high ground speed. You may need to drop to a lower gear.

My apologies. Yes as kthompson said a slasher is a rough cut mower.

I will have a look at the temperature difference between different areas of the radiator. The only thing that comes to mind is a lack of coolant flow around the radiator due to either blockage or water pump issue. Whilst using the slasher I do bump up the RPM and usually stay in 2nd or 3rd gear (depending on ground conditions).

As for the manual, i'll get in contact with the factory. Thought i saw one floating around ebay too.

Thanks for the input guys. You've been a big help.
