My cub has the exact same problems..good info on the kit # it will order one asap...i can't find the fix on here for the no start and mine is doing it every time now..clicks but will not engage starter..if you keep trying it will start..very annoying...can someone help with this ?

I have been quoted $10800 for a BX1500 with 54mmm, fel and tiller. Is this a fair price? The dealers tell me the BX1500 is obsolete, should I be concerned?

Talked to local PM. Said her husband's 4 WD 05 Kcab Tacoma gets 18-21 mpg. On a trip to CA. they did get around 21. She did not say how fast they drove. Not that great but could be worse. She did say it gets a little better mpg than her 6 cyl. 04 4-runner. Her only other comment was "he loves it".

Thanks Art for the reply. I'm already familiar to the difference between a garden tractor and a lawn tractor since I own both kinds. They both have the same engine,18 hp twin cylinder, but the garden tractor (MTD) is bigger and stronger.

Lawn tractors are even cheaper. Farm & Fleet sells a 20 hp, hydrostatic with a 42 in mower at their regular price of $1,350. I don't mean to use these as a comparison.

I referenced the garden tractors earlier solely as a benchmark at what $2,000 can buy. Although the current versions actually have more hp than the Kubota BX24, these garden tractors don't come in 4wheel drive and aren't strong enough for FEL and BH.

Anyway, the BX24 I'm looking at would come with FEL and BH. What would be a great price on this configuration from a buyer's point of view?

Manure will be piled, and I'll have to either dump it in a spreader or scoop to load into truck, etc.

Used is good if I can find a decent tractor. Lower cost is definitely better for me.

Tractor will be stored in a barn with a 14' opening.

Any particular brands/years? Sounds like 35-40hp with 25hp PTO. Given where I live, it's a long drive to any dealers. Would be good to have an idea of brands/models that would be realistic. Unfortunately no one around who can advise on it all. My Dad had a tractor for his almond orchard for years but was really handy and would do all his maintenance and repair himself. It's not something I can expect to do. So REALLY old not a good plan.

Hey, don't knock my loadmatch :) I really like that feature. It came down from the big TLBs and from what I understand those guys love it. I'd rather not have all the electronics, mostly for reasons of future parts availability. That's what's scary to me. There's no reason to avoid it for reasons of serviceability. Reliability? If it's done well it can be darned reliable. Haven't had any trouble with mine but my fingers are crossed.

Yes, I had the pulverizer made here in our shop. I fashioned it after a landpride but then put the expanded metal roller on it. I need to put a heavier shaft through the roller and more spring tension on the arms if more are built.

Was planning on selling them but my manufacturing cost was to high and marketing was difficult. Most contractors are going to powered units. If you want to try it out, give me a shout, its at our shop about 20-25 miles from you, a little east of I-75 just off M-46. It is just setting outside getting rusty. Usually use it only a couple of times a year and have lent it out to some local contractors.

Thanks guys for the advice. I just got off the phone with my bank and the dealer and I have to say I made out pretty good. I got the interest rate dropped from 10% to 8.5%, which surprised me that the interest rate was even negotiable. I guess it had something to do with it being my personal bank and my house, land, and other loans have been solely with them. The dealer was set on his price, which I figured, so I asked him to throw in a boom pole, the first break-in oil and filter change, and a few hats, which he did. I am happy now. I am responsible for getting the equipment back to the shop for warranty services though, mostly due to liability reasons being that they have to use an independent person to haul it. The only other thing I think I am going to regret is not getting the FEL, but I can live without it due to it would increase my payments by $142/mth.

This site is great! I really appreciate the quick responses and straight forward feed back. Keep up the good work!

One of the guys I usually smoke with has a son-in-law who made a smoker out of a fridge. Our nickname for him is the knucklehead. People have been modifying refridgerators for years with good results. But the knucklehead's happened to have a tarlike coating inside. During his first attempt at smoking baloney the tar started oozing out with the heat. Now whenever we try anything he's smoked we say, "tastes a little bit like tar doesn't it?" :)

I agree. I'm not partial to any particular brand but I happen to use Mobil-1 in my cars and in my tractor. It has never let me down, however, I think the same would be true of any full synthetic. The differences between brands is negligible compared to the difference between synthetic and any regular oil.

BTW, the fact that oil looks "dirty" does not necessarily mean that it needs to be changed. Just the same, oil that looks clean might be at the end of its life. The condition of the oil boils down to the molecular level. Any good filter should remove the macroscopic contaminates. Color is not a reliable indication of the oil's condition.

Try putting a volt meter on and checking battery voltage and how much it drops when you turn the key to the start position, it will indicate if the starter is drawing voltage from the battery or not. This will indicate if it is a bad starter or battery as opposed to a key switch or safety switch problem. A fully charged battery is 13.8 volts DC.

I would check your pressure with a gauge. Depending on oil temperature and rpm, you should have somewhere between 25-50 psi. The light should not flicker until pressure drops to 6- psi. It sounds like you might have a wire shorting out somewhere. If the wire between the light and the sender is pinched or rubbed through somewhere, it will cause this problem.

As Yanmar makes more than just the engine this maybe a difficult task. It is a bit like divorce where the judge grants the wife everything and the man gets the right to pay alimony.
Dispite this fact there are other small engines available now. Cat is building a small diesel which is in the Challengers and a couple Cub Cadets. Perkins has also introduced a new small engine for the compacts.
Deere also has a relationship with a Korean manufacturer that produces smaller sub compacts complete with engines.

Had very much the same problem.
Could be one of these problems.
Coolant system is subject vapor lock.Work very hard to remove any and "ALL" air from the system.Lift the front very high if you have to. Get it all out or it wont be nice.
I had to find on the right side a very small temp switch/guage that did not work on mine. Two small plug in wires. Bypass them and see if your fan comes on. If so its your always off temp switch.
