On my vehicles and Tractor I tend to get 4 or 5 years out of the battery. And I wait until problems start before swapping in a new one. Probably better to just replace at the 4 year mark rather than getting stick someplace.

What is your battery replacement approach?

On my tractor I get about 7 years, and I wait until it gives me problems before replacing. On SUV's 4 to 5 and I really should just replace at 4 and not wait for issues to opo up before I take action but I never do, I need that click cick sound to stimulate me :-(. ....

Believe it or not but I got 13 years out of original battery leaving it on a battery tender when parked. Battery tenders are sure worth the money.

I am with grut, the first Kubota I own battery lasted at least ten years. I have also learned the trickle batteries at least for the down season saves them for me. Even the cheaper lawn mower batteries. Maybe an employee of Advance Auto explained it when I asked about the gel batteries advantage, and it was you recharge them if they go totally dead.

I own three tractors, one excavator, one side by side, three lawnmowers. I have no desire to replace a battery before I have to. Not to count the autos.

I just replaced my original 1998 Kubota L3010 battery last week. It lasted 24 years (highly unusual!). However, my pickup battery is also currently 14 years old (2008), and I replaced my ford E350 van battery 3 years ago after it was in service for 15 years. Like some others above, I replace batteries when they stop working (and check/clean the battery cables and clamps to remove corrosion, make sure I have a tight fit between the clamps and battery posts, and fill fluid chambers and charge the battery before considering replacing it). Some earlier posts commented about keeping battery on a trickle charge during inactive periods. This can be especially important in cold climates. ....

I've found that batteries can live shorter or longer periods than expected. For that reason, I wait until that "awe sh*t" moment before replacement. I'm old now and have accumulated allot of stuff over the years. I have more than a dozen batteries to tend. I keep a battery booster/portable power pack handy at all times or a battery charger with surge start capabilities on hand so I don't get stranded. ....

I have battery tender also. Do you have several Tenders and keep it on always or do you have just one like I do and rotate it periodically based on batteries that have not been used much.

Have not been using a tender as long as you have to know what works does not work? ....

My battery was just the Oem 2008 TYM battery(not sure what the name was on it cause I am seriously lacking in South Korean literacy) paired with a "Battery Tender" brand waterproof automatic battery charger.

I use a battery tender every two weeks on all my batteries, cars, truck, tractors and diesel mowers. All my batteries live outside in the weather year around. In the winter the tender is used every 10 days, for what ever number of hours are needed to get back to 100%. I do not change them until they fail. Normally I get 6 to 8 years on a premium battery. Now back to cleaning up hurricane damage in "Ray Stevens" "Shriner's Convention" Hahira, Ga. ....
