I was checking the linkage for the front-end laoder hydraulic controls and found a small block of steel wedged outboard of the two active portions of the control valve. The "lego" shaped block is steel, has a hole drilled through it, and appears to have never been installed anywhere. It looks like it has been sitting where is was since the tractor was new (2004). There are two pics of the part on my profile. It is about 1 1/2" x 1" in size. I look on the JD parts site and could not find anything that looks like it.

Perhaps a spacer, but you could find out who made the controller and ask them. You might find a name on it, or ask Deere, or email the main manufacturers (there aren't many) asking if they supply JD. ....

That looks like a fixturing clamp used during a machining process somewhere back in the assembly line. It appears to fit into a t-slot when screwed in place. That would keep it square to the table and prevent spinning when tightened. The L shape would be used as a positive stop for whatever was being machined.
If it is part of the tractor it has to be some kind of adjustable positive stop that is used on the tractor in the same manner as described above.
I am curious enough that I will crawl under my 4210 today and see if I can find one. ....

Having worked in large equipment company for a few years jb may be right. But would be hard for it to have traveled from there to where you found it unless done on purpose. At least seems it would have been painted. However his thoughts make sense and so still does a clamp. ....
