Hi,

new here. looking to purchase a JD 790 tractor. having second thoughts.

Is this actually made/assembled by JD? I heard that it is actually made by a supplier to JD (Yanmar or Kubota).
I thought that was crazy but you never know with all this damn outsourcing.

thanks

I know many of the parts are made in US and Canada, and the engines, Yanmar, Japan.

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that there assembled in Illinois.

I love my 790 great tractor..

According to the Deere web site, the 2210, 4010, 4110, 4115, 790 and 990 are all manufactured/assembled in Japan.

As far as I know, Yanmar is not an independent company. They ARE Deere. But they do turn out a more trouble free product than the Georgia plant where the 4210 through 4710's are assembled.

All Deere compacts, except the new 4000 twenty series have Yanmar engines. ....

The 4210-4710 have a lot more features, which means more complexity, which means more chances of things going wrong. Simplicity has it's advantages. ....

Dually50 - You may want to look into a 4210 or 4310. the 790 is a power house but the tranny is old school. It will get to you after a while, especially if you plan to mow alot or do loader work. ....

dually50, if you are looking for a VERY trouble free and RELIABLE basic CUT the 790 is tough to beat. I echo Ken and Mark's comments. The tractor will more than likely outlast you. ;o) ....
