Just thought it would be fun (maybe more for me than you) to post a running pictorial of a new addition to my yard bldg. to house my new B7510 and BH and other misc stuff!!!

Day one, removed two large trees now cut/split and stacked in the background, dug footer for 14x20 addition...

Will post more as Bldg. progresses..

Dean, sounds like you're gonna need a mess of paint brushes for the big 'barn painting party' next March, LOL.

Looking good, nice job.

Day 11, but please remember I let the concrete cure for a full 7 days so in reality I am in day 4 of construction and I have over the years developed methods to allow me to build structures with out help in case you notice something that you are not familiar with, it is a special technique to do all without skilled help!

Wow. where do you get all your energy from? I got tired just watching you.

Keep posting the photos. It's fun to see a project as it develops. I'd love to see it when it's finally finished. What will you use for siding? Will you be adding electric and/or water to the building? ....

I get my energy from being just to Damn dumb to lay down yet!!Lol
Thanks for the nice comment, the siding is T-111 as you see it but G/F is in charge of painting it, perhaps tomorrow she will start priming it to match the other bldg!
I have 220V 50 Amps in the little bldg and will bring it and lights over to the addition as far as water is concerned I Pump water from the lake for irrigation and have a tap just on the other side of the back wall but really don't need it inside the bldg as I drain (purge the system dry in the winter) actually run 3 zones of 8 sprinklers each at 40# pressure with a 1 1/2 Jet irrigation pump and auxiliary feed it with a deep well pump 13 stage HP in the lake.
In other words It spews water all over Gods little acre and the only cost is the electricity to energize the pumps twice a day for 30 minutes per zone for a total of 1 1/2 hours morning and evening!
Man thats a hell of alot more than you wanted to know isn't it? SORRY.

Dean, Are you going to have this complete by the second weekend in March or is a paintbrush going to be needed to attend the picnic? Nice job!! My new weld shop being made out of an old building is coming along slow but steady, so when some of the real ugly gets covered with new tin I'll post a picture or two. I had to move out of the building I was in to keep insurance folks happy. They were right, the one I was using had too much potential for fire, I'm moving into a striped to the bone remodeled building about 100 ft. from the prior one with a steel clad interior. keep on pounding. Frank. ....

This might be interesting for any of you that have a ROPS Device on your tractor!! I designed this building entirely on the height of my Rops on my B7510 a standard garage door type structure will just not cut it!!

The side sliding door is for a place to park the back hoe portion of this unit!

The front door is a standard 8X7 (raised 1 & 1/2 inches to park the B7510 when she is just running around nekid!!

Well good, glad it causes someone to do something different!
The bldg will be 32x14 when done the motivation was the new B7510 but actually needed the extra storage right here at the house , just had to make it look like it belonged to the back yard and it looks like it was always there!
When I am done I'll put a slide show together for all the folks who think it was magic . believe me it's not and given the proper guidence any one man can do it!
thanks for the nice comment BTW!

Looks great! I am renovating a barn to be used for my wife's horses. In the aisle (12x36) and storage area (10x36) I am debating pouring a floor or using stone dust and compacting it -- rubber mats will cover everything either way. I noticed you poured your own floor -- almost 20 years ago I was "boy help" on a construction site where we poured a cellar and garage floor. I remember it being pretty straightforward; is my memory correct? If memory serves me correctly, we made a form, poured the concrete, and leveled it out. My memory gets a little fuzzy at this point, but I remember using a big "fan-like" thing on the floor once it started to cure. I don't remember removing the forms, but I'm sure we did.

Any pointers as to what to do would be greatly appreciated! ....

Yes! you remember correctly, but what you probably don't remember is TIMING is everything when working with cement!
I pourd 6&1/2 yds. in this project and it about whiped my butt!! I had a little 130# woman helping me and it was about all we could do to pour it, screed it and then power trowel (fan blade thingy) it!!! I barely got it finished in time and was still able to broom the aprons!!

Dean, Wow, it's quite aparent that you don't do anything that is'nt top notch, you probably have Norm and Tommy drooling over it. Great job!!!!! Now that harvest is upon us my only shop dutys will be harvest oriented, I'm in kind of an awkward position of having my weld and machine shop half moved till harvest is over by Dec. So any time you have a hankering to see Iowa, the home of hog confinements and meth labs come on up and finish off my new shop while I'm working on harvest, AKA, "Revenue Enhancment". Frank. ....

I'd love to but every time I do something like this it brings more than I can handle 1. Garage, 2. Gazebo, 3. Porch/den addition!! and those are just the one's I'm interested in doing!!

There is so much demand for skilled people that care it must be a haven for young people if they would only care!!

Dean, your absolutely right, as our three boys were growing up drilled into them to learn a trade, do it right and don't rob the public and you'll never go looking for work. The son who took over the furniture plant is allways 6 mo. to a year behind. I allways as he was learning the trade stressed to him to never let a bad piece out of the door, that will say more about you than twenty good ones. We don't even have a phone at the shop, but orders keep coming from new customers as well as folks I worked for 35 years ago. The other two have found other skills that are making them a good living too, so the desire to learn a trade and do it right is still a good way to live your life and be a part of your community. Frank. ....
