Assuming you mean a Kubota Laughing out loud I'll give you my opinions based on my owning a New Holland of the same size and weight but 33 HP.

- plow snow

In what way do you plan to plow snow? You didn't say if you were getting a loader. Even with a loader it will be a long, laborious job. And at 25 HP it won't have enough weight for good traction.

- move some dirt

Unless it's sand or already-loose dirt, don't even think about digging dirt. These machines are not backhoes--you will shorten its life rapidly. And the buckets will just not withstand daily use other than lite--very lite--chores.

- pull a few trees and small stumps out.

Pull them how? Don't even think about using a loader to pull them out for all the above reasons.

- grapple to do some of the work.

There are many types of grapples--hay, rock, industrial--flat bottom, open bottom (tines or grates)--heavy duty, lite duty--single finger, double finger--some mount to the OEM bucket top, some mount in place of the OEM bucket---skid steer-style mount, or OEM-mnount. In any case you will have to subtract the weight of the grapple AND if it's deeper than the OEM bucket subtract the effect of leverage will reduce the roll-back power of the loader and the lifting ability

- is this tracter big enough for this

Assuming you mean a tractor Laughing out loud - in a word and in my opinion, no.

How much time do you have to do chores?

A wheelbarrow shovel and pick will do what you need to do just it's labor intensive and not very efficient. A 25 hp tractor will do it but you may be of it cutting roots with a axe. You will always find something you wish you had someting bigger. We do it at work all the time.

You should decide how much time you can invest in projects and if you haven't done this type of work double your estimate. How much money do you want to spend on operating expenses bigger costs more.

I did many varied and some commercial work with a 20hp tractor and did ok. New tractor is faster will do more but still wish I had bigger sometimes. Each will have its limits. I was extreamely happy with my little 20hp but time got the best of me and had to upgrade to a 35hp.

Good Luck in your quest

How reasonable is it to rent a machine to dig or pull the stumps? If you do not have a lot of stumps or can batch them and rent a backhoe or excavator or hire them removed you will make this size tractor a much better choice. Then the plowing will probably be your next HP hog but depending as Harvey has said on the amount of time you have it is possible.

I agree with Harvey on double how long you think it will take. Laughing out loud still have to do that. It might be wise for you to rent a tractor of the size you plan to buy and use it for a week or so and then decide. Very seldom do you hear, my machine is just too large, but it can happen.

You left alot out to really be able to answer your question well. Time is always a consideration! Your abilities make a difference too and if you had to ask, while it's plain to see that you are unsure! It's good that you are asking! For the snow, what are your thoughts, depending on your driveway length the loader that would take the grapple would work fine for a smaller driveway and the possibility of a three point hitch snow blower on the rear might be enough to work for you.
About the stumps, what is small?

The only thing I use my 22-horse for in the winter is the Canadian snow. It works fine and the small size is good for sidewalks but I had to make modifications:

-liquid ballast in rears -four chains -rear blade that I modified to push/pull at a more acute angle -crank on a hitch vertical arm to change the up/down angle on the fly

Only problem is that with lots of snow on a narrow lane, the shoulders can get too high to take more, and I wish I hadn't sold my blower. (I move the shoulders with the bucket.)

I decided mine didn't have the lifting and hydraulic power to handle a bucket grapple.

I purchased the L3240 HST with L724 FEL QA with 6' bucket, I compared and looked at lots of tractors, Kubota L3240 was my first choice and second was Kyoti. At 3400 lbs it was heavier than others with same HP, which is 35 gross, 32 net and 25 PTO with HST. Add water ballast in the R4 tires and will be close to 4000 lbs. I'm happy with tractor. I added remotes myself.

It's cheaper to buy the right size first than it is to upgrade in a year or two. Horsepower is usually cheaper (per hp) when added to the base model.

My 1st post on this site. I have a Kubota Grand L3240 that I bought new 2007. I do not have HST but instead have 8 speed foward & reverse shuttle shift which in my opinion will work a circle around a HST. I got it to use & I use it. It has not failed to do everything I asked it to do. I am truly amazed at it's ability. I had a Case International 385 4wd, a much larger tractor, before this & the little Kubota would do anything the Case would do if it just had the traction. I have Ag tires on it & even the traction amazes me. The Kubota will handle a 6' bush hog just as well as the Case would. All the lift specs are much higher on the L3240 than on the L3400 though they share the same engine. The bucket is larger, the cylinders & everything else is heavier. A Kubota L3400 is not 1/2 the tractor that the L3240 is. Unless you intend to do heavy construction work or commercial farming 5 days a week, the L3240 is a real workhorse & will do about anything a homeowner with some land would ask of it.

You have a lot to look at and you have had some good reponses on the abilities of the tractor from the stand point of commercial users down to people much like you.

I recently had a past tenent who stopped over with his new neighbor. It was interesting for me to listen to what had happened from the neighbor. His neighbor was running his compact tractor and trying to manuver a stone that was about three foot to four foot diameter depending on how you measured it. He wasn't having to good of luck moving it when my old tenent came over to see what he was trying to do. He asked if he could try and he was able to manuver the stone to where he wanted it with no problem according to how the story was told and he asked me if I could help him with learning how to better operate his tractor so he could run it as well.
It isn't always the tool as much as it is how you use it!
