 B26 mid-mount mower

Hi,
Do you know if it is possible to get a mid-mount mower for a B26? I really like this model for my needs, however I really want a 60 or 72" belly mower also.

Thanks,
Mark

308systems,

The B26 is a dedicated TLB. It doesn't have a quick-tach loader.

Kubota doesn't list any attachments for the B26, other than for the loader and backhoe.

For Kubota's commercial TLB's they have never had the mid pto to run a belly mower. It's not that they might not be adaptable but your loader frames will be in the way as they are an integeral part of the chassis.

Thanks for the responses, can you recommend a Kubota or Deere tractor that is compatible with both a belly mower and a backhoe? I have 2 acres to landscape and a septic tank hole to dig, not to mention 15 800# stone steps to set.

Thanks again,
Mark

I don't know about Kubota, but a Deere big enough to run a decent size backhoe and mid mower both gets you into mounting issues that take lots of time going from one to the other. There are a zillion good used rider mowers on dealer lots that can cost less than a mid mower attachment and avoid the hassle of pulling the deck out from under a compact tractor.
frank.

308systems,

Many of us trade tractors in much the same way we trade cars and trucks. I don't know much about your particular situation, but it sounds like you are in the same shoes I was in about 10 years ago.

When I moved onto this piece of property, I had a real mess on my hands. It was almost more than I could handle, but the old house and the land it sits on was worth saving.

You might consider downsizing your tractor once you have the big projects out of the way. If you make good use of a bigger tractor for a year or two, the payments will be cheap when compared to the cost of renting one for that amount of time.

Get the big projects out of the way, and then downsize to a smaller turf tractor. If you go with a Kubota to begin with, you'll find that the resale value is VERY GOOD. And you don't have to start out with a new machine in order to retain most of your investment.

Just passing along a few of my thoughts for your consideration.

Joel

I'd go with a BX25 from Kubota and hire out the septic work as it should be only needed once.

308: what you need for the short construction phase might be too different from what you'll need for the long maintainance phase for a single rig to serve both functions. And a mounted hoe makes the tractor hard to use for other purposes, and is a costly attachment to let sit around if you take it off.

You might be interested in what I did for a tank lid. For less than the cost of the standard heavy concrete one, I got from a metal shop a square sheet (heavy, with the anti-skid raised diamond pattern) just bigger than the outside of the tank top. Installed a rust-proof folding pull-handle at each outside corner (so I can pull it off easily, and meanwhile drive over it.) Made up a beveled-edge under-liner of double-thickness 3/4" plywood. The wood fits into the top of the tank. Attached wood with construction adhesive pulled tight while hardening, with rust-proof countersunk bolts. Creosoted the wood and rust-painted the metal. It's like new a decade later.

I like Franks advice.

I haven't priced a mower deck lately, but I would bet that even a new riding mower would be cheaper.

Sears.com has some very good deals this time of the year and a wide selection of riders. I especially like the zero-turn models because they put the power to both rear wheels.
