Not speaking for Case but many companies sadly don't want even their own employees ideas unless they work in the "right" job.

If you have the right title or company name you may be able to just call into their home office and get directed to who you need. Of course the first person will not be them.

Other wise I would begin with local dealership. Find favor for your idea there and get them to introduce you to the regional rep and move up from there.

Depending on your idea you may want to see about getting it patented first. Then you might find there is those who will take the patents to the manufacture trying to sell the idea.

Not case but over the years I have and have one daughter who has just written old fashion letters to a major company on an idea and had all kind of results. Some sent back very dumb answer so you knew it was standard reply and others gave a real thanks for the idea and we will consider it and in one case they did just what my daughter suggested but my thinking it was going to happen regardless of her letter but it still pleased her and for Dad that was what mattered.

I still think US mail gets better response than an email for such.

My father in law gets out his old selectric typewriter and addresses his comments to the CEO of the company he has issues with. He usually gets something more than boiler plate responses, enough so he keeps at it if he has a gripe.

You are right you have to be doing something a little different to get attention.

Handiman, see if you can get your hand on a stockholders annual report. It probably has contact info you can not gain any other way. May gain a back door by looking into their stock but not sure the parent company's name now.

I got this info from customer support lady.
Mailto:
Customer Support
621 State Street
Racine, WI 53402

I wrote a 2 page letter with photos and received a call back 6/11/15. 4 days after I mailed it. The woman seemed concerned just like the other lady I spoke to on the phone. But, added that she would forward my information to the headquarters. I told her that they were looking at a possible lawsuit for all the hours and money lost trying to repair something that should be as easy as changing a tire. I intend to seek assistance from my Congressman and Senator if I don't get some satisfaction and even further if needed. Enough is enough.

Handiman, if you get help from elected people on this it will shock me. If Case really built a sorry product or bad design still there is no law I know of against such. Even if they did so knowing it was bad still don't think you will find there is a elected official issue here. Also not an attorney either but for law suit think you will have to have more than one shop saying it is bad design to get anywhere. If you can hire four attorneys Case can hire four hundred and the engineers to verify their design was within industry accepted standards and also Case dealers who will verify they have made such repairs with no unreasonable problems. My belief before it was over they would have built a good "case" that you and if you had help did not know the proper way or have proper tools or such to make such a repair at least not on that model machine. Oh they may even tell you are expert on a another brand but not on their machine.

That is my 2 cents. kt

Kthompson - just so U know I'm an ex-tool and die maker, I know all about manufacturing equipment from forging steel to making parts for a watch or one of those gears in your car's transmission. I also worked several years designing parts for military ships while working in the design departments. I can tell U that over the years I have learned the way to make changes is to not just complain about bad things, but to write it down and send it to the people at the top. It took a silly ignition key that nobody thought was harmful to get some innocent people killed and make GM make changes and pay a hefty fine. My request may not seem as dangerous to some, but if someone gets hurt for whatever reason, like a torch fire, Case mfr. will pay dearly. By the way, I also learned that when a police officer gave me a hard time in my younger years - I write not only to his superiors, I write to the Attorney Generals office. And you know what, the officers always gave me a call to apologize, because now their on record. That record stays with them because I sent a copy to the top. Regardless of whether Case answers, they know their on notice and I'm sure I'll be hearing from them. I'm retired, so I can do a lot of complaining now that I have more time to do so.

I think you'll find that with 99% of the units you're talking about were made by one of numerous companies that no longer even exist.

The recommended method of extracting those pins is by using a combination of pressing and a slide-hammer. Unfortunately most people use a sledgehammer which mushrooms the pin and locks it even tighter in place.

We use a rose-bud torch to heat (and expand) the housing, and a slide-hammer to draw the pin out.

Best of luck.

I'm well aware of the mushrooming - I'm an ex-tool and diemaker with tons of experiences manufacturing steel products. And I did use a 30 ton press and a rosebud torch to begin with and all I got was a lot of wasted oxygen and acetylene. Even after I drilled through the pieces of cut pins and cut torched so the pin looks like the letter "C" in the support hole, they would not come out so easily. And like I mentioned - nothing gets fixed unless someone complains.

I have found in my 69 years of life ,that ALL Democrat and Republican Politicians are jokes and a waste of time to write or call them unless you give them a Million Dollars. Just my 2 cents.
