It looks like young Cooper's Hawk, which also are also called Chicken Hawks. If it hasn't left on its own yet there's probably a wildlife rescue organization in your area. I don't think I'd try to deal with it myself. I believe Cooper's are an endangered species and there might be all sorts of complications.<br>

I had pretty good luck finding out about a red-tailed I saw in the middle of a city by calling the zoo. They should know of any rescue orgs that are around.<br>

Increasing the door height would reduce room for a header. I don't have a clue about header requirements for trailers, but our inspector wants me to replace some BS framing in our front porch door with doubled 2x10's before I install a pre-hung door. It's in a 4" unloaded wall, but there probably is one rafter over it and the roof has to carry snow. A door in a trailer wall is likely in a loaded wall.

I don't know how a standard residential door and framing would work for a trailer. Our old 40' construction trailer has 4" walls but the doors are nothing like residential doors. The doors still jam if the trailer isn't leveled right. I suspect that unless to doors are very light, 2x2's for the short studs wouldn't hold the door weight near the hinges without deflecting.

I suspect that what ever is done has to accommodate leveling changes and flexing if the trailer is moved. Maybe standard low-cost residential units may create problems. I think that trailers build on steel frames work very differently from structures built on masonry.

Winter blend in ND probably is straight #1. It gets -30F here too and straight #1 plus an all-in-one additive has prevented and problems. Pump lubricant likely produces adequate lubrication. I've heard cloud points of -25F for #1 diesel. I think of kerosene as the expensive stuff that smells less when it's burnt in lamps.

My oil dealer says that anti-gel doesn't turn summer #2 into #1 and it will gel when it's really cold. I usually make my own winter blend by starting to top up the tank with #1 around October. The trouble is that there's no such thing as off-road winter blend diesel around here. I'd risk ending up with a full tank of #2 and find myself in a December cold snap otherwise. For taxed fuel users, it's good to start asking what blend a station is pumping around November depending on how much fuel is used. Low volume stations may not get a delivery of winter blend till it's really cold.

Keep the engine rpm down a bit until you get some experience. The hoe won't move as fast. Get a feel for what a good digging angle is for the bucket and dig more by pulling the stick back than with the bucket. Take it easy on the tractor. Move the tractor frequently to avoid digging with the hoe stretched out and avoid banging it around. Plan where the spoilings will be dumped.<br>

When doing trenching, and level bottoms are required, know that everything on a hoe moves in arcs so pulling the stick back changes the bucket angle and also digs deeper until the stick is vertical and then it gets shallower. Adjustment of both the bucket and the boom often are needed, and well, changing the bucket angle also changes the depth. I think trenching to any kind of specs takes more than a bit of practice but you'll get the hang of it.

It depends on the soil as Grinder mentioned but an ordinary blade with tilts should do it or one with a special end for ditching as Murf mentioned. It's a fairly heavy traction job and weight in the front of a 4wd tractor would help. It also would resist drag on end of the blade from turning the tractor toward the ditch. Fairly heavy blades cut better.

I have done shallow v-ditches(maybe 6" deep) with my box scraper. I lower one scarifier and run it along the ditch course. Then I put as much tilt on the box as I can get with the 3ph leveler and run a corner of the box along the scarifier cut. The box will carry most of the cut material and bring some of it onto the drive. A blade probably would be better but the box is what I have.

Relieving the pressure before removing the hoses and storing implements in the shade minimizes the problem. My loader hose QD's are male and I seldom need to do more than wrap a QD in a rag and push the ball against a tire. I do put my loader in float and then work the bucket valve both directions to relieve the pressure but I guess you can't do that with a joystick. If the bucket isn't completely flat is will re-pressurizes the lift lines when it settles. High-pressure QD's are available but expensive.

If the tractor doesn't have draft control, it's not something that's usually feasible to add. This sounds like the typical learning curve for box scrapers. A hydraulic top-link is feasible to add and it plus using a lot of float on the 3ph will help a bunch. The blade angle on a scraper is mostly what determines it's action and the top-link is what adjusts it. What you describe is just the way most 3ph's work and they aren't very good for grading.

It doesn't sound normal. I'd guess it leaks down pretty fast when the tractor is off as well. If that's the case you might turn the flow control valve off and see if that stops the leak-down. On a position control 3ph that would sound like a bad poppet valve or adjustment problem.

Especially if a relief valve squeal is heard when the lift valve is worked, a likely culprit is a quick-connector as Ken mentioned. It's pretty easy to pull them enough to disconnect them or to not get them fully seated if they been disconnected. If that's the case, at least one of the hoses from the valve is likely pressurized and will be difficult to reconnect without manually depressing the ball in the connector to relieve the pressure. Before removing any hoses it's good to sit the loader on the ground while the tractor is off and work all valves.

I'd figure out how much a mixer weighted with a full load in it and compare that to the tractor's 3ph rating. The ratings usually are defined as 'weight centered 2' behind the lower pins.'

In addition to Chief's suggestions you might want to check the throttle and max no-load rpm adjustments. It's not clear to me if the rpm loss is under loaded as well as unloaded conditions.

I had a problem with a neighbour when I was in the city. Well, he had problems with me too, but his tactics weren't at all direct and drove me wild.

After talking with my lawyer to check my legal responsibilities in the situation I talked to a community relations outfit in the police department. They referred me to a community organisation that provided conflict resolution services. Basically, the organisation contacts all parties to agree to accept mediation services and provided a panel of experienced mediators.

I imagine the mediation takes various forms but ours required us to write out a description of the problem and both appear together before the panel to present the problem. The panel prepared a summary in the form of a non-binding contract that was signed. I agreed to do some things and so did my neighbour. We both gained something but neither of us entirely got our own way.

I can't say the services rendered us buddies or anything, but the mediation did manage the problem and likely far better than a legal route. The big thing is that you appear before the panel and the other party alone--no hired mouthpieces and arcane legal stuff to muck up a solution. The trouble with legal routes is that then tend to produce one winner who is judged 'right or damaged' and one looser who is judged wrong. The real world is seldom that clear.

Were the detents checked the balls on the shift rails or one that's part of the linkage? Too bad the gear clearances weren't checked as long as you were in there although I can't see a connection. I wonder how you get it released after it locks up. I imagine the TX isn't synchromesh so the tractor is stopped when shifting. I'd try it in 2wd if it has 4wd. I'd also try to reason what about an incline might do it. Does it also happen if the front end is lifted with the loader?

The 'hoe breaks the tractor in half' thing is mostly related to 3ph mounted hoes but sub-frame mounted ones aren't bomb proof either. Tractors really are designed for pulling things. A hoe with its long arms has a lot of leverage that applies loads in ways that tractors aren't specifically designed for.

I've used a 3ph hoe for about six years for occasional moderate work without apparent damage to the tractor. It's not an especially large or strong hoe for the tractor but I take care not to use it aggressively and our soil is sandy here. No guarantees that my experience would be the same for anybody else though.

Nature vs nurture sure is a complicated subject. A simple view is that we are born with very general capabilities and tendencies, but it's experience that makes for specific reactions to specific situations. Anything we experience never really goes away, it just becomes part of us and how we react. Nurture, especially during early years is a particularly important part of experience, and it can be good, bad or just inadequate for the situations in which persons later finds themselves.

The important point is that while nothing really goes away, the bad, the inadequate and also good parts of it can get diluted or concentrated by choices we make in later life. We get better at bringing what we can do to what we face and we also get better at picking our situations. We also can choose situations where what we can do is an advantage. The good news is that nothing is cast in stone and we get to choose a lot about what we are and what we do. The difficult part is making choices that keep making us better. The bad part of experience can be concentrated as well as diluted.

Bad experience can create 'tape loops' for us. We always react to the same thing in the same way, and those reactions may not be what we do well or help us at all--got to learn to step around those situations. I carry my own load of anger for my own reasons. I've learned that venting my spleen makes me feel better but doesn't do anything for anybody else. I can be right as rain at least in my own mind but my anger is my own thing. I didn't necessarily choose it but it's mine to manage. It does help me do some things as long as I don't dump it on others who may be just innocent bystanders. I've learned to do things in ways that don't keep playing those tape loops.

The choices I've made also are realistic for me. I'm an ordinary person and just an educated hick. I'd never be a pro athlete, movie-star lover or command a boardroom, and I'd give myself a bad time if I were stuck with those goals. I did find a career, played competitive sports as an adult and eventually found a life partner. Took awhile but it's eventually happy making stuff. WE GET TO MAKE CHOICES AND DON'T SWEAT THE NATURE STUFF.

Some people use utility trailers. Receiver mounts for 3ph's are available. There are some issues with these things like a limiting chain for the 3ph and long stopping distances going down hill with big loads, but people who use them on their tractors seem pretty happy with the results. Of course, they also can use them on their trucks.

I've played on a few floats and done sound engineering on others. I can't say that I've ever noticed what I was standing on except whether I had good footing or and how I got on and off. Of course these were 40' and longer transport flatbed trailers and not much to look at. I would keep in mind that you might be doing this more for yourself than for parade participants--and that's not a bad thing. Well, parade judges may be impressed and that also is a consideration. When I think of the fancy horse drawn wagons maintained by several brewers oak is what comes to mind. It's traditional for this type application for both structure and decoration.

I don't know what the deck is like now but I'd keep in mind that hay distributes its weight evenly and just lies there. People in parades may jump up and down together or all run to one side. Shock loads and stability may be an issue.

Diesels need only fuel, air and compression to run but the starter has to spin them fast enough to generate initial heat and pre-heaters should work. Starter fluid can do serious damage. Compression releases on some engines have to be closed.

I'd start with the pre-heaters and electrical in this case (battery condition and clean the terminals and engine end of the ground). Then, I'd check for good fuel flow from the tank and delivery from the injectors. Then, check the valve clearances and a compression test if necessary.

I think there's some fluffy language from the dealer/corp. Most people would think that 'weight on the wheels' means loaded tires or wheel weights. That type ballast doesn't change the steering much. Weight carried on the 3ph is still on the wheels I suppose but it does lighten the steering.

Most PS steering systems have an adjustable relief valve. If the problem just suddenly appeared the relief pressure might be checked. It's also possible that the problem is there when no 3ph implement is mounted and not there when one is mounted.

If it has a loader and a diverter valve is set to the auxiliary position, I'd set it to remote (3ph only) to take the loader out of the system. If the relief valve squealing when no hydraulics are operated then it's an obstruction and the tractor shouldn't be run for long periods. If no relief valve sound is heard, I'd do the pressure test for checking relief valve pressure to see if the pump working. If there's good pressure and the diverter is in remote then a 3ph problem is likely. More about 3ph problems later if needed.
