I have a Kubota Compact Tractor that is 12 years old. When I moved here my neighbor had a Kubota that was a few years old. Long and short is he seems to sell and buy new every 5 years. While I have the same old machine.
To be honest my use is what I consider to be light with yearly hourly usage at 70 hours and my clock shows about 750 hours now. My neighbors usage is about the same, weekly mowing, winter snow removal, and occasional loader usage.
The idea is if you want to have a trouble free Tractor ownership how often do you need to trade in a Kubota?

Right now own three Kubotas. Bought my first almost 21 years ago. It is for sale now but only as my need for that size tractor has passed. If you pay attention to the professional tractors users, farmers being the ones I know the best, seldom trade due to the age. They trade due to hours or to upgrade or normally larger but sometimes smaller (me), serious issue with it something along those lines. ....

Well, Gee, Shucks..
What's your idea of 'trouble free Tractor ownership? One down-time incident/yr? Less, more? I seem to be around 1/yr in 15 years - hydro hoses(3, I think), bad fuel, front tires needed replacing, tach+hour meter died (required a new panel - $$s!), fuel line rotted out (twice now), plastic fuel cup didn't like anti-gel, control linkage pivots rusted up, Plus the periodic oil changes, greasing, mouse management, etc.
I heard of a guy -45 years ago now - who traded his car in every year. Never did ANY maintenance, including oil changes. Any issues were the next owner's problem. Next guy decides to try this, but at the end of the year decides to keep it...and gets stuck with a dog.
Back to tractors. Small, oldish tractors aren't loaded with complex electronics and are rugged and pretty easy to work on. You're not going to wear it out at a hundred hours/yr, where 'worn out' means an engine or tranny rebuild or even new tires. If you can't/won't work on your tractor and getting it repaired (and dong basic maintenance) is expensive and/or time-consuming, then I suppose trading it in every 5 years makes sense to some people. ....

I've got a 1991 L2850 I bought new in 1991 ans it is still going strong with 1500 hours. I think your neighbor just likes to spend money unnecessarily. ....

my first tractor bought in 2001 if i remember was a used Cub Cadet 7274. great tractor did a lot with but every year it was in the shop for a month for repairs and dealer X had to wait for parts.It was a lot of hidden problems waiting to surface. especially electrical....wife said No more used ..so Traded in for a new NH TC33 in 2004, with a new dealer B, relatively problem free till this last Oct when brush hogging a field (done dozens of times before) a buried branch got kicked up by tire rolling over it, cracked a hydraulic line and filter housing.. dealer came got it and repaired in a week Dealer B told me they will be "authorized " to servicing NH items with parts for only two more years, as NH is changing it dealer support methods and requirements and local dealer mgmt is not in tune with NH recent behavior and requirements, so a parting of ways. So if i needed NH servicing dealer it be 1.5hr + drive versus 30 minutes. Dealer said they would still work on my tractor but parts support would be delayed. So I bit the bullet and traded in the NH (780hrs) for a Kubota LX3310 as they have carried the Kubota line for eons along with other major equipment lines,MF, AGCO.., I ve had a real good working relationship with this dealer (sales, parts,service) and ive come to trust them . someone mentioned fewer electronics on smaller tractors.. that might be true on some-- But this new LX3310 just about has as many buttons and warning icon lights and buzzers as my 2018 Car. ;-/ :-) Still taking sometime to get use to all that electronics ....
