Is it advisable to increase tractor engine RPM when lifting a particularly heavy implement attached to a 3 point hitch? Please discuss, thanks.

I've been wrong before but don't see why it would matter.

Pressure does the lifting, the engine/pump builds pressure, it's a matter of how fast you want the implement to rise. Since there is no direct mechanical coupling between engine and 3ph maybe it's just a matter of operational speed. ....

Pumps are rated by how much pressure they can develop at a specified rpm. That's pump rpm, not engine or PTO rpm. And that rated pressure is not typically achieved with the tractor engine at idle. You can do the math if your curious - to see how many engine rpm it takes to develop max pressure. Short of that, yes; you typically have to raise the engine rpm to efficiently lift heavy loads.

Speed of lift on the other hand, is a matter of flow. Regardless of how many rpms or how much pressure, the faster the flow the faster the lift. Pressure is developed by the engine, speed is achieved by how wide you open the lift valve.
