I have a 4100 that started to lose power. It was running fine while i was mowing then it started to lose RPM's. It never would come back to full power. I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the radiator and the air filter. It will start and run fine for 2-3 minutes the it starts dropping RPM's. I doesnt matter if it is under load or just sitting. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks for the quick replys. How do i check for a plugged injector? When I changed the fuel filter i ran fuel from the tank into a glass jar and it was clean and no water.
I tried the fuel cap thing last week. I had that happen on a lawn mower one time. I am thinking the injector pump or injectors but can i check any of that at the house?

Thanks,

Jason ....

I would probably start with some chemical cleaners if you haven't already gone that route. ....

It is possible to have a floating piece of trash in the fuel tank that gets sucked over the fuel outlet as fuel is being used and it can partly block or fully block the outlet. If your fuel tank is of design you can look in it by only removing the fuel cap when it looses power take flash light (not a match as a person who did sell tractors did here recently and yes he got burnt) and look for trash at the outlet. It took me a while to find the wasp in mine. Not sure if he flew in while open fueling or was in hose nozzle. ....

I'm having the same problem! If I find a solution I'll post it.

Could it be a pin hole in a fuel line sucking air? ....

Well i thought i had it worked out. I pulled the air filter housing and bled the injectors twice. I put it all back together and it ran fine under load for about 20 minutes. Then it fell on its face again. I am going to change the air filter and rebleed the injectors and see if that works.

There are two air filters on the 4100, an outer and a smaller inner filter.

Might be a good idea to change both. ....

This past Saturday had an odd thing to happen. Was running my excavator and realized it was loosing rpms. Stopped and pulled fuel water seperator bowl off sure it was water in fuel the way it did. No water! So what could it be. No idea how but the fuel cut off lever was in the off position. How did that happen? It had been running at about max rpms for an hour or more when it happened. So check cut off valves. Have about same filter assembly on my CUT and had it to get jammed and slip out of place. Never noticed that until I went to cut it off when changing filters and turn it all I want with no effect.

This one could have been mentioned and I missed it, when it does this are you able to spin off fuel filter or such to see if fuel is running free form the fuel tank or through the filter? ....
