I have a Kubota B2710 that is about 8 years old. Great shape. I am going to have need to dig some stumps, put in underground drainage tile (4 or 6 inch) from 3 to 6 feet deep about 800 feet known and dig pond banks that have been there for 40 or so years (yes with trees in them).
Stumps vary in size from small to about 20 inches. Only a couple of the larger ones and speed is not important. The tile work and pond banks are bigger jobs. These all are Saturday warrior jobs and thus renting a machine is not an option.
I have considered a small used excavator, used TLB and also adding back hoe to my B 2710. I am looking for suggestions on adding back hoe to the B 2710. Presently the B 2710 is used a good bit for 3 pt work so I would want the unit that could be removed with some ease. Also am considering adding FEL to same.
Your thoughts appreciated. kt

For my two cents worth, rent a small excavator.
I realize you said they were weekend jobs, but, if you do a days work at a time, you will still finish way faster. Most rental houses will happily make you a deal, they drop the machine off late Friday, and pick it up first thing Monday and charge you only one days rental (for Saturday) provided you don't do more than about 12 hours clock time on the machine.
The time savings using a small excavtor could be the difference between the job being a 'weekend' one, and a 'many weekend' one.... :)

A couple of years back, I hired a crew to come in and replace my sewer drain pipe. The old pipe had collapsed, which severely limited the amount of water we could use.
The plumbers showed up with a small Kubota TLB. The backhoe was mounted on the Three-Point hitch. When I first saw it, I thought, "It's going to take them a week to get this job done". I was wrong.
My drain field is 110 feet long. They had the entire thing dug out by the end of the first day, even though the pipe was more than 6 feet deep in sandy clay.
The next day they placed the new drain piping and covered the ditch with the same tractor. Total cost, including the pipe and labor for two guys = $1270.00
I was sold. I went out and purchased my first Kubota tractor shortly thereafter.
The plumbers had a very small machine. The work it did was incredible. Though not very fast, and working at or near maximum depth, the job went far faster than I thought possible. With a few hours of experience, I'm sure you'd be able to learn to operate it just as efficiently.
I might only suggest that you start with a small project, on level ground, so that you can get a feel for things. The stability of the little TLB is not that great, as the unit's base is fairly narrow, and the tractor is quite lightweight. If you can get by with a smaller bucket, all the better.

I agree with you. Renting a machine is probably the better option.
However, there are probably some other factors involved here, such as finding an excuse to get out of the house. hehehe.

candoarms, my wife normally supplies the get out of the house and do this or that so I don't need to find an excuse. Count me blessed there. :) ....

I was watching an auction on proxibid this morning. They sold a Hyundai 130LC Excavator, with a recent overhaul, for only $8300.00. NICE!
I don't know what you'd have to pay for a backhoe for your tractor, but I'm guessing that this excavator wouldn't have cost you much more.
search Proxibid for "130LC", or "Excavator".

Murf, made a call to local rental center. Their only excavator is about a 25 or so hp Cat.(size is what I think I would want.) Rate is high to me for Saturday just below $300. For a week $757 and 2 weeks right at twice that with a 9 hour limit for a Sat and 40 hr per week limit. The best I can guess I would have about $2,000 low side in rental fees. ....
