Your 2210 comes from the factory with a break-in oil. You need to leave it in there so the rings on your pistons seat or hone-in with your cylinder walls.

I use JD Plus 50 15-40 wt in my 2210. You do need to use a diesel formulated oil that meets specs after you drain the breakin oil. Also be sure to follow the the manual for the changing of all fluids, greasing, and re-torquing of bolts. You can do the maintenance yourself or pay the dealer to do it.

Doing the maintenance at the recommended Intervals is important not only for the longevity of your machine, but also covers you if you have any warranty issues.

It depends on the soil as Grinder mentioned but an ordinary blade with tilts should do it or one with a special end for ditching as Murf mentioned. It's a fairly heavy traction job and weight in the front of a 4wd tractor would help. It also would resist drag on end of the blade from turning the tractor toward the ditch. Fairly heavy blades cut better.

I have done shallow v-ditches(maybe 6" deep) with my box scraper. I lower one scarifier and run it along the ditch course. Then I put as much tilt on the box as I can get with the 3ph leveler and run a corner of the box along the scarifier cut. The box will carry most of the cut material and bring some of it onto the drive. A blade probably would be better but the box is what I have.

Glad you are happy with your 2210. I got mine about 6 weeks ago (FEL,Box Blade, tiller on order) and have rellay enjoyed it. I've cut trails through my woods and the small turnning radius has been just right. The box blade has been a terrific addition. The teeth take care of small roots and the box levels everything I want. I'm learning how to run the loader. Still can't always pick up what I want but I'm getting better. Biggest learning curve was learning to run the tractor at higher RPM's when using the loader. I just keep reading the posts here and learn alot.

People are sometimes seriously injured by defective products. It is a simple fact and one we all understand. Remember the Chevy Corvair. Ralph Nader got famous by writing about them in his book "Unsafe at Any Speed."
I think it started some of this craziness.
It is also true that people do some really stupid stuff with products. Things the products were not designed to do. They get hurt sometimes. One fellow thought it would be a good idea to trim his hedges with a rotary mower.
He sued and lost. Most of what the average guy hears on the news about this kind of litigation is there because it us unusual. The run of the mill expected results are not newsworthy.
I agree that there are good and bad lawyers. Just like there are good and bad of all professions. I am a lawyer.
I have found that whether people think I am a good lawyer largely depends on which side of the case they happen to be on. Few lawyers are always bad or always good.
I was apalled that a lawyer friend of mine took a case that involved a man who used a rotary mower on his old tractor. This fellow did not know much about tractors so he did not use an override clutch. He got the idea right after being shoved on through a barbed wire fence. He sued. He lost. He should have lost. Get the idea? Occasionally some good comes from litigation. It can expose fraud for example. It can result in dangerous products being recalled. It does result in stupid warnings being placed in booklets and companies trying to avoid failure to warn lawsuits. Your doctor tells you about the risks of your surgery. If he does't you cannot give an informed consent. Would he do it unless a lawyer and a judge and a bunch of our fellow citizens sitting on a jury had repeatedly awarded money to some poor guy who wasn't told about the risks and got injured?
Lawyer's make their arguments to juries. Juries award the money, not other lawyers. Vericts come from juries afther the lawyers have their evidence laid before them. Lawyers usually will not let other lawyers stay on juries. The bad ones will bank on your gullability. Sometimes they get lucky...but only when "We the people..." let them.

Quick Follow Up - Not sure what all the concern is. Have heard all the warnings about 3 pt - worked fine - wouldnt sell them if they didnt. Hooked up with PTO Kit (easiest installation - only complaint I heard was cost which wasnt an issue) Dug 100' 4 foot trench and footings for an out building today. Sorry to bust your bubble.

Can't speak for the 461 MF ,but can say the 5205 is a really nice powerful machine, I have put about 25 hrs on mine since i got it and have been highly impressed with it. much more machine then the 790 deere I traded in.

Well good, glad it causes someone to do something different!
The bldg will be 32x14 when done the motivation was the new B7510 but actually needed the extra storage right here at the house , just had to make it look like it belonged to the back yard and it looks like it was always there!
When I am done I'll put a slide show together for all the folks who think it was magic . believe me it's not and given the proper guidence any one man can do it!

Anthony, In my hometown, the local John Deere dealer predelivers the tractors at home depot, then puts it back in the crate for easier storage. (they can stack them up) If your Home Depot doesn't have this service, I would find the closest dealer to purchase from. The price should be the same, although financing options may be different. If you buy direct from the dealer you might get more preferential treatment in the event you need warranty repairs.

Check your shut off solenoid or shut off cable for
proper function,if that checks out pull off the fuel
return hose at the injection pump during the low power
problem and check for good fuel flow into a bucket.
If flow is good,your injection pump could be the
cause for low power.If not,check for restriction in
the filters or fuel line,then check transfer pump.

Be careful before you rush out and buy this stuff. Many of the new plastic lenses are permanently damaged by anti fog and other products.. If you are not sure, go to your local mall and a Sears store. You can walk into any one of those, show them your glasses and ask what or what not to use on them..

I don't think Ralph said he was running fluid in the front tires. He was addressing the issue/question about rear ballast as it might relate to steering effort with a load on the front end. No "Duh"s necessary if you read the thread back a page, or so.

I have been busy working that angle as well. I just have to get to know the neighbors better. One of them I am pretty sure is who tore my fence down to drive threw the property. Been a lot of drug related problems in the area since it is so secluded too. Took the concieled firearm permit class and qualification range and turned in the paperwork last week. Scored 99.6% on the range.........wasn't paying attention and had a flier. :O) Doin' my best to be a good neighbor with the locals.

I have had my 7800 for almost a year now and have put over 125 hours on it. No major complaints as of yet.<br>

I have used the loader a lot and also use it to mow my grass weekly (60" mid mount mower). The mower is very easy to remove as well as the loader. If you choose to leave the mower on while using the loader or 3pt hitch implements, the mower fastens up high out of the way (although if doing a lot of work I recommend removing the deck). I mow about 4 acres a week and can mow twice without refueling. <br>

The 4 cylinder is very quiet and powerful. The 7800 does have a form of cruise control and it can be fueled easily with a 5 gallon can that has a spout. And finally the headlights really don't matter that much when you have a loader on the front. The 1/4 inching valve takes a little getting used to but I like it a lot. <br>

Last winter I kept my 200 foot drive and parking area clear of snow as well as two neighbors driveways. I bought the chains for it but never put them on last winter because I never needed them. Although we didn't get any major snowstorms, it went through those 12 inch snows like nothing.<br>

The 7800 has done everything I have asked it to and more. It is a great no frills tractor. If you can live without a few creature comforts it is a great tractor.
