Tim;<br> I think JD has been playing with the frontend and has gone in the wrong direction with the 4000 series. I have a JD 755 which was replaced by the 4100. I finish mow about 2 1/2 acres. I have turfs and have light duty chains on front for when I'm digging in the gravel pit. It's to muchof a pian to take them off for mowing.I use full range of motion when turning and have no problem with scuffing up the turf. I do believe JD has designed the new tractors with to tight a turning radius.<br>David

Todd,<br> The factory was the ones I spoke with, they originally agree to fix the tractor at no cost. Then they call back through their dealer three days later and call it customer abuse and refused to do anything to help. Mr. Cobb in service at Long Agribusiness made that choice and didn't have the curtesy to call himself.

I only have about 50 hrs. on a TC21D. So far the tractor has been super. I have used it mostly for mowing and loader work with some box blade work on my road . I have been impressed with the pulling power with the box blade, I can pull a 5' box blade full of gravel up my drive. <br>I can't compare the TC to any of the other compacts as most of my tractor time has been on a MF 135. Thanks for the reply. A load of 120 bales of hay would weigh roughly 6000 plus the weight of the wagon. The dealer called this morning and my new tractor is in but they have to put industrial tires on it before delivering. It'll be another 2 or 3 days.<br>Thanks<br>Larry

An overrunning clutch prevents an implement (such as a bushog), driven by a power source (your pto), from transferring any kinetic energy back into the pto. In other words, the tractor pto can drive the shaft to the bushog, but when you disengage the pto the overrunning clutch sort of

I used a large drag harrow (probably 20' wide and 8' long) to prep a 10 acre area before seeding and then just after to cover the seed. It worked well but it would have torn up any established grass. Perhaps a lighter one would not tear the grass out.<br>I would recommend a grass seeding machine or have a farmer seed it for you. I think anything that scrapes the ground has to do damage to new grass.

I'm confused about fluid filled tires.My 3054 Kioti has them.All i use tractor for is pulling 6' bushog.Works fine although ride is rough over rough terrain as one would expect.Are there advantages to removing the fluid and how do you do it?Does the added wt. affect tire wear or durability?Thanks in advance,Dave.

Recently purchased a 1998 JD 1070 with 440 loader and 8A backhoe with 300 hrs. Tractor used for cemetery excavation. Would like to purchase a cab and heater for winter snow removal. Is this a feasible option for my 1070 our should I have searched for a factory cab equiped unit? From what I have been reading on the message board I should be very pleased with my purchase. Could someone explain how the syncro-mesh transmission works or benefits over standard transmissions? Understand it is not a hydro! <br>Last tractor purchased was a 332 diesel hydro. Use this L$G tractor for snowblowing. Works fairly well, but isn't heavy enough even with wheel weights for when the snow gets hard. I do realize that the 1070 will be a significant step up and am looking forward many years of service. Presently work in the electroncis industry but would like to have a tree nursery someday. Figured the 1070 would make an excellent tractor for this sort of work. Had been looking into a Bobcat but wanted to be able to engage ground breaking equipment. For I have a farm. Only one question and that is concerning tree spades. Would The 1070 be able to lift a tree spade and the dirt associated with moving trees, provided the root ball wasn't to big without damaging the loader or the tractor. I welcome any complaints, any information, or any comments. Thanks

Rob: you summed up in one paragraph, why John Deere is the superior choice. If potential tractor buyers on here are having a tough time deciding between Fiat-NH, Kubota, and Deere, Rob stated several points that many of us tend to forget about until we actually buy a tractor.

No doubt you will get plenty of replies on this one. I don't know too much about the TC21 or the Ford as there aren't any dealers close to me. The price for the Ford doesn't sound too bad to me for a tractor at this end of the market but some of the other guys will have a much better idea of a fair price than I do. I looked at the Kubota and Deere when I was shopping just a short time ago and they are both excellent machines. A couple of things to bear in mind when talking about the JD 4100 : 1) If your dad will ever need a backhoe for any reason, you'll have to go someplace else because JD doesn't make one for the 4100. 2) Get a guarantee on the delivery because 6 weeks to 6 months isn't unheard of at the moment. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to choose between them. There are differences ofcourse but they are relatively minor and it depends on what your dad likes as far as pedal positioning, etc. <br>Unless you can get an increadible deal someplace it'll probably boil down to your particular color preference and the dealer at the end of the day. Don't underestimate the value of a good dealer. If he's really helpful, it may be worth a few dollars more to do business with him 'cos he can save you a lot of aggrivation and frustration over the life of the tractor. <br>I personally chose the Kubota B2400 mainly because of the delivery on the JD4100 (a couple more horses over the B2100 for a few dollars more) and have been very happy with it. It's done everything I've wanted of it.<br>If you don't have too many trees and stuff to mow around, I'd consider a rear mounted mower instead of the belly mower. It'll do the job every bit as well and will save you a few hundred dollars.
