Hello people. I'd much appreciate a price ckeck on an early 90's(?) JD 950, Yanmar diesel, 2WD, 873hrs, 75 loader, new 5' hog, rear blade & stone rake for $10,000. One owner, used mostly for snow removal and driveway maintainence. Thanks.

If it has power steering and 4wd and decent tires? Jump on it! JD is a good<br>loader, but it is not the best loader. You can save a thousand dollars on this<br>tractor - if you are lucky and fast - by looking for another year or two. Maybe<br>you can get a nice rear blade or box blade thrown into the deal.<br> Roger L.

Based on your comments, I'd vote for the Kubota. You will not be taking that <br>loader on and off nearly as often as you think that you will. I know nothing at<br>all about the two dealers. I'd ask the dealer for a customer list. <br> Roger L<br>

Considering the purchase of a L185DT, serial no.L185DT-50343,<br>w/ 5' rear finish mower (brand unknown) and Kubota front<br>blade(hydraulic tilt & angle). Condition good; 1000 hrs on the<br>meter. Good point Greg,<br>But it is amazing how the oil companies have control of how we think. So we keep buying more<br>product, kind of like a drug addict. Better still,we stand up for them like Soldiers. <br>More and more large trucking companies are starting to use extended drain programs, with the help of oil <br>analysis kits. The kit is simple to use, take a small sample of oil(when HOT), send it away, <br>days later the results are compared to the manufactures limits of the various chemicals &<br>particles that end up in the oil. A recommendation can then be made to keep using the<br>oil or change it. What does this mean to us? it means that extended oil changes<br>are possible. And amazingly enough, even manufactures like Cummins have realized that<br>these early oil changes were not necessary, hence Cummins 15K mile drain interval program.<br>Good example, you read the label on a milk jug, only to find it expired.<br>Do you immediately toss it, or do you check it, or does your wife check it?<br>You probably check it, why? because you paid good money for those groceries, and you<br>don't want to just throw something away that may still be good. Yet, we assume oil magically turns sour<br>at Midnight of 3k miles or 50Hours. For one reason or another we never consider that<br>the oil may still be good. This is proven by the fact that more and more trucking companies <br>are seeing 75-100k mile oil change intervals with regular filter changes of course, and no difference <br>in wear at overhaul time. The bottom line is: what and how anyone spends their time and money is really <br>no concern of mine. I can only recommend that one would find out the facts for themselves, And realize<br>the facts are different than they were 20 years ago. Amazing how a quart of oil<br>says

Better contact me off the list for this.<br>About the transmission and PTO, len has described it. Now I can't remember<br>what it was that he said, But I remember nodding my head and saying

right" to myself as I read it. Yanmars tranny is unique in that it is
a shiftable on-the-go tractor transmission. And it clutches itself. The foot
clutch is for fine control at very low speed or for clutching the PTO.
Frankly I'd try to trade in the 155. You never know!

Fred,<br>I live in W Mich in a lake effect snowbelt area. While I have a NH1520 with front <br>blower and rear blade, a relative has a MF1230 on which he uses a Curtis <br>hydro-turn blade and a Woods rear 3pt blower. While i prefer my setup for my <br>drive, my brother-inlaw prefers his. He has a longer drive like you indicate. <br>The front blade works well, it looks like it hangs out front quite a ways and <br>would tend to push the frontend sideways, but it doesn't seem to be a problem <br>at all. After he makes a pass, or two, up and down the drive, he uses the <br>blower to knock down any banks, and he is done. For his drive, it is faster <br>than a front blower and moves more snow farther than a rear blade. He does <br>have the rear tires loaded. (He had a KU L245DT with front blower and rear <br>lade before the 1230, so he knows both ways, and likes the front blade <br>better and is very happy with the Curtis. For my drive though, I'm <br>sticking with my setup.

I've never seen a new loader for 2 grand. Most are around $3000. (and up)<br>I'd advise you to get the mounting kit that fits your particular tractor. Most<br>loader manufacturers and dealers can get a kit to fit their loader to a <br>particular tractor. There used to be very universal mount loaders made for the old Ag<br>tractors. One size fitted them all! The Farm Hand loader was one of these.<br>But I am not aware of such a universal kit for compacts.<br> It sounds like you have enough hydraulics to make it work. Loaders can be <br>powered by several different ways of tapping into the tractor hydraulics, or with<br>an accessory pump. It is done every day and is cheap and easy. <br> 2wd is fine, but you will need to mount a heavy implement on the rear to<br>balance everything out and keep your traction. Box blades with weights are good.<br> The best news is that you already have the one thing that is very important<br>and is nearly impossible to add aftermarket - POWER STEERING! You won't believe<br>how important this is until you use a loader tractor with turf tires and no <br>power steering! Roger L.

I am thinking of buying a gf1800 4wd front mower. is there anybody with experience on one of these and can you tell me how well it has worked for you. I am deciding between a new one and a used one with 500 hrs on it. any advice will be appreciated thanks .

One thing that I found about the 4100 gear is that it does NOT have

With the HST, you get Live PTO. So if you want put on a belly mower, every time
you engage the clutch, the mower will stop. Hope this will help.
