I am thinking of buying a gf1800 4wd front mower. is there anybody with experience on one of these and can you tell me how well it has worked for you. I am deciding between a new one and a used one with 500 hrs on it. any advice will be appreciated thanks .

Mike, I would never buy one of these type of mowers again. I purchased a used one this spring with 200 hrs. I would love to sell it. I just don't like it. It rides extremely rough and mows poorly. I like to cut my grass tall. 3.5" or so. My biggest complaint is that the mower throws clippings out the front on the left side and tends to cut poorly on that side as well. There are other commerical mowers that turn shorter and ride better in my opinion. The motor and hydro is excellent. The front deck mower needs much improvement.Mitch Lacquement ....

Mitch, thanks for the input. I had a concern about the ride issue and brought it up to the Kubota dealer and then got a song and dance about the best ride in its class. I then rode a larger F2260 with a full suspension seat and had a much better ride. As far as the clogging issue the 1800 I tested was pretty good at the tall stuff and seemed to mow my lawn fairly nicely. I like to mow long too. I am also looking at a New Holland front deck mower, it is very competitively priced and it mows well. I need a 4wd for my hills but really like the size of the gf1800. You have helped, thanks Mike ....

mike, I believe in there price range and size its hard to find a more durable mower. who else has a four wheel drive in this size. you may find a smoother ride in a larger machine with larger tires but often times the ride mght be rough because nobody took the time to adjust the air pressure. there are several decks available for these tractors and kubota decks under normal conditions are some of the best hi vacuum decks out there just make sure if you let your lawn go often where you are cutting more than a third of its height you don,t travel fast or you don't have the 60" deck ....
