Thanks for all the input, but no one really said if was worth the effort. My loader was detached so I just changed the fluids with it off. The fluid looked real clean when I drained it so I doubt it matters.

When I saw it I thought of this post. I looked a bit at it and thought it was not the most elegant design for sure. Plus the fact that one nut fell off and a few other were loose. I have to be honest in that I have not looked at a different version before this, so I am not sure how others are put together.

Thanks that is perfect for what I was looking for. Now to get a aftermarket cable dip stick and repair mine to those specs.

I have pictures of the drive shaft to the transmission and a video. I hope to get that posted up today or tomorrow.

I think your are conflating the way gasoline engine maintenance was on a 1970's car where you would tune up every 20,000 or even more often, change points condenser and plugs.

A spark plug in a gas engine is constantly sparking. A glow plug is just for starting, it just needs to get hot once for each session, very simple.

With just 534 hours your Tractor is still in the diaper stage of its life, many many years are left.

That said I am more of the leave well enough alone mentality.

If you want to tinker, tinker away, but like you said you may fall into a bonanza of opportunities to tinker more if you snap the head off one of those fully functioning glow plugs.

Hi this Kubota B7500 tractor is new to me.<br>

The seller told me that I can shift from 2WD to 4WD while moving as long as the steering wheel is straight without using the clutch.<br>

He said that is always the way he has done it with no issues.<br>

He gave me the owners manual and it s says to always depress the clutch. I tried that would cause me to come to a stop disengage my MMM and really put a strain on the clutch plate.<br>

I was told by a factory CAT tech the whining under load is the pressure relief valve cycling (open / close / open / close) at extremely fast speed against high system pressures when the machine is under heavy load.

It's much the same sound as a FEL makes if you dead head the hydraulics, like holding the joystick in the curl up position after the cylinder is fully retracted so I suspect that is the cause of the noise.

BTW, while I do NOT approve of the method, the tech advised that you can dramatically speed up the heating of the hyd. fluid on cold days by rising the idle a little and holding the hydraulics against the relief valve, like as above using curl up. The constant load and restriction of the valve causes a lot of friction which in turn creates heat.

I'll stick with an leectric preheater.

I recall that there was an issue with some of the early digital instrument clusters, the design was such that water could get into the instrument cluster and let the magic smoke out.

Kubota stepped up to the plate and did a free fix for affected units. Even way beyond warranty end dates. Check with your dealer.

Generally speaking that issue is a safety switch preventing the starter from engaging.

Look at all the basic stuff first, PTO left engaged, clutch and / or brake switch if so equipped, seat switch, etc., etc. also look for any switches that may have gotten accidentally unplugged.

Interesting question. My tractor's (Cub Cadet 7305 with a Mitsubishi 3-cyl diesel) manual warns to not idle at less than 1500 RPM, although low idle is about 1000. The hints are that below 1500 proper engine temp can't be maintained.
540 RPM on the rear PTO is at 2376 engine RPM. 2000 RPM on the mid PTO is at 2632 engine RPM. Max RPM is 2980 no-load. Max HP is at 2750.

So, no real reason to run it faster than the PTO speed(s) unless you need max HP, highest ground speed or faster hydraulic actuation.
I usually run about 2000-2100 (I'm not using the PTO). I have a hydrostatic tranny so I don't need to fiddle with engine speed to change ground speed. And I'm not working the tractor for a living so time isn't money.

As far as fuel consumption goes, the no-load consumption will be slightly higher at high RPMs, but the real fuel usage is under load. 20HP of load will have about 1/2 the fuel consumption of 40HP of load irrespective of engine speed.

Engine wear/lifetime is largely determined by the number of revolutions, not really by 'hours'; at least my tractor's "hour" meter is really a 'revolutions' meter as it is a mechanical counter connected to the tach cable. So running the engine at higher-than-needed RPMs shortens the life of the engine, another reason to not run the engine faster than needed.

I don't know about that particular model, but most 'modern' diesels start and stop with a key instead of the older push / pull fuel shut-off. That means you need to have power to the fuel shut off relay (it's normally open and requires power to close) in order for the injection pump to produce enough pressure to fire the injectors.

If it's an older model with the old style manual push / pull fuel shut off is it in the correct position?
