Are you stepping on the brake? Most newer UTVs will start in gear if brake is depressed. If battery is good, and key switch is ok that's about half of what you need. You should start in neutral, but try with brake pressed, see if brake lights work, if your machine has them. Then check fuses. Most modern electrical systems are pretty resistant to water and mud. Check also connections to starter. I helped a friend start a Yamaha the other day. The brake pedal needed to be held down for several seconds before the starter would engage.

You are comparing something from nearly the top to the bottom(my personal feelings) check Cabela's service center and parts system.
There are reasons which without knowing the set up of the tractors makes it hard to say why. Are you looking to drag race?

Mike, most people with the grey market tractors that have put loaders on soon get rid of them for the same reason you might enjoy the thinner oil. You could try the UDT non-super which is a little thicker then the super. What possibly you will wind up with is leaks. Try some generic hydraulic oil so you won't miss much $$ if it doesn't work.

I know this is an old discussion thread, but I'm having the exact same problem... 870 quit running with smoke coming out of the fuel shutoff solenoid. I replaced the solenoid, and when it still wouldn't start b/c the solenoid wouldn't pull in, I found the 5A fuse blown. I replaced the fuse, and the solenoid pulled in when I turned the key to run and then the tractor started fine. Machine ran for a minute or so and then died again. 5A fuse blown again. I swapped the pull in relay with the other one of the same type (neutral start?) and the same thing happened with a new fuse. So, with a new fuse, the solenoid pulls in, the machine starts, and then dies, with the solenoid too hot to touch and the fuse blows.

If the original poster replaced the relay control module in his/her fix, did that do the trick?

I think I would try to clean the paint off from where the serial number plate used to be. The serial number is stamped there and may be legible if paint is removed. Not sure if tracing tractor serial number from engine serial number will be successful on the Yanmar built machines.

I've been called on to tackle several situations similar to yours. Tractors that sit in a garage for years on end can become very difficult to get running again. The primary culprit usually ends up being the fuel system.

Find somebody who is willing to help you get the fuel system drained and cleaned out. This is usually all it takes to get an old tractor running again, other than batteries and cable connections.

I gave all of this info to the owner. I also found a place to get the nickel chromium wire in as little as 5 ft lengths and gave him that info too. Thanks everybody it's in the owners hands now we've done everything we could. If anybody needs that link for the wire to make it yourself I'll post it.

clear tube on carb is over flow line, check fuel pump by running engine for a minute , than disconnect line from pump start it back up and see if flow is about 3 oz in 5 seconds, look that up though, if not to good get a Briggs pump found one for 6 dollars works good better.

If that does not work clean carb make sure high sped jet is drilled out to #56 metric bit size, and your should be in good running again through away the end of the filter housing rubber part tip.
