John Deere 870 what year

I am a tractor newbie. I have a John Deere 870 but I don't know what year it is. The SN is not legible, so I can't tell. Is there any other way to tell? It's 4WD and has a Model 80 loader.

The engine info is:
Model 3TN84-RJK
Serial CH3048D005057

I found info on a 1994 870 for sale online with this engine:
Model 3TN84RJK
Serial #CH3048D002789

Any chance I can tell anything from that (assuming both are original engines)? Or is there any other way for me to tell? I want to know the model year so I can find a manual and be able to reliably order replacement parts.

Hey jimmyjoe, If you take the info that you do have to your local JD dealer they can look it up for you and might even have some history on it. Good hunting ....

Thanks. I know where the SN or product ID is supposed to be but it's not there. There is no plate by the pto. I can see what might be a couple of numbers stamped in the metal under the paint but I can't make any of them out. ....

I think I would try to clean the paint off from where the serial number plate used to be. The serial number is stamped there and may be legible if paint is removed. Not sure if tracing tractor serial number from engine serial number will be successful on the Yanmar built machines. ....
