I recently bought an 04 cadet 7304 tractor. It has "posi trac 4wd" and hydro gears..I have not used it for 3 hrs and the shaft going from the front axle to the rear power plant has fallen off twice. It is held with a set screw which was tightened after the first time. Anyone with a simular problem or a "fix" for this? Also I am happy with the power (30h diesel)But I am disappointed with the strength of the bucket lift. Is there a way to boost the strength of the bucket lift?

If it were mine I'd go for the height. You never know when you might want to put in a 2 or 4 post lift for vehicle maintenance! At least that's my plan. But a 10 foot ceiling is probably too low for that plan.

Does anyone on here have personal knowledge and even own a Farmall 4366 tractor or one of similar size? I'm thinking of buying one. Right now it doesn't run, so that will certainly add to the difficulty of hauling it. All 8 tires hold air and it appears to have been reasonably taken care of when it was running. I'll have to hire an experienced hauler to move the beast. <br>

I'd love to be able to plow with it and even enter it in a parade.<br>
Need some input and advice from those familiar with this size of machine.

I'm seriously considering on purchasing a 4366. So far, I don't know much about it, other than it has not run in several years. It's located in a southern state and has very little rust. I do know that it has a three point hitch and all 8 tires hold air.<br>

It would fun to have it around, especially if I can avoid sinking $10,000+ in repairs to it. Looks like it was well taken care of when it still ran. If I could get it running where it sits now, it would sure save a lot of trouble.<br>

Does anyone on here own a 4366 or similar IH tractor? This thing would sure be fun to plow and even enter in a parade. <br>

It's not what you use, but how you use it.

Like the old saying "One Marine, one shot, one kill.".

We use paint ball guns. The combination of noise at the muzzle, where the paintball hits, and the lack of retreating. If you manage to put a round or three on target (a paintball gun is about as accurate as a politician during an election speech), it's REALLY effective.

Hi Art! Thanks for posting. My tractor has 672 hours. Never had a problem going in or out of 4wd. I've used this tractor to hack my small farm out of the wilderness. I have: hauled rock, stone, concrete, mulch, dirt. Dig a pond, foundations, septic field. Build a dam. Plow snow. Every day it seems I find a way to do something with the tractor that I previously did the hard way. It is indispensable. I am so glad I bought it with my Ag tires. My tires are not fluid filled and I do not use chains. MANY TIMES, I have hauled my neighbors much larger, 4wd tractors out of the mud. They all have R-4 tires! Virginia clay is unforgiving. I was hoping that going to a 16 wheel would diminish sidewall flex. This is the only complaint I have about my Ag tires. I've never rolled a tire off the rim but, I've come close a few times. If I LOAD the fel bucket with #78 gravel, my fronts get really squishy. Still looking for the rim width I should get in order to upsize to 16. Thanks, Brian

hi i just purchased a 2008 new holland tz22da tractor. wondering if i got a good deal? its a 22hp. has 250 hours. diesel. has bucket but i am still looking for a mower deck for the back or underneath. its in excellent condition? i paid $1900 for it arrived at my house. it is my first tractor and dont know anything about them. i have drove lots of tractors from farm work but im excited about it being my own. thanks for any advice

I have dealt with this issue several times in the recent past and found the solution. Remove the cover from over the park brake area to gain access to the fuel pickup line that extends down into the fuel tank. pull the line from the tank and you will likely find that the fine meshed filter screen is clogged and is being sucked flat by the fuel pump. You can order a new pickup line from any john deere dealer. Do not remove the screen and reinstall the old one or you may surely have a bigger problem later on. Also the 620 model gators have lots of throttle body problems. They don't adhere well to grit and grime once the dirt gets past the air filter and the throttle body may need to be removed and cleaned by a qualified mechanic. Keeping the air filtger clean or replaced at least twice a year is most criticle on this model gator.

That is why the 7300 is a bargin! To add the attachments that you would be getting with it the tractor is almost free.
Depending on your age and physical abilities the lack of power steering might not bother you to much.
I remember selling one to an attorney and I had for warned him of the power steering but he did have a price in mind! The monday after delivery when we were talking he did tell me he found muscles he didn't know he had! He did a lot of work with it and he did move up to a tractor with power steering.

Now I can die happy. (Wanted to live long enough to offer an improvement to Murf.) About carrying water in the bucket -- to water something or to spray, ...

I made a set of baffles and a cover to reduce (not prevent) splashing out. For spraying, I made up for a 12-v pump a weighted and screened intake that goes into the bucket, connections to my external battery terminals, and to a wand I operated from the seat. Worked well, but a bother to set up and take down each time.

Princess Auto was selling plastic tanks with built-in 12-v pump plus hoses and wand (white, I think 15 gal and designed to strap onto ATVs). Got one. Fit nicely into the bucket, no spills. Adapted the electrical connector to mate with mine. Takes one minute to set up or remove.

When they went on sale (for less than just the price of a pump) I got three more, for plain water and different sprays.

Mine's 1000', level, turns, stone dust. Front bucket, rear blade, 4 chains on the turfs.

Blade modifications:
-increased angle to about 45 to help the snow slide to the offside and so (for narrow places) neither side goes outside the tractor track
-good weights on it (yannies don't have power-down)
-a brace to reduce the strain on the hitch when back-pushing
-beveled the lower corners so doesn't catch on sidewalk irregularities when helping neighbors
-increased the height dimension to reduce spillover at the outflow side
-removable custom "box-blade wing" at the outflow side (more for soil- and driveway-leveling than for snow)
-a crank-device so I can raise-lower one lift arm from the seat, to modify the changes from horizontal (my driveway's crowned)
-a trailer ball and a pin-hitch-holder so to move a heavy implement I can back to it and scoop it up

I wish everything I owned gave the same value-for-dollar as that simple blade.

I finally convinced John Deere that it was a warranty issue. The out-of-true condition is due to a careless job of aligning the spokes and the rim during the welding stage of the manufacturing process. Replacement rim on order. They'll have an area tire company bring out the new rim, drain the RimGuard, remove/swap rims, replace RimGuard, remount wheel/tire - all under warranty

The hour meter was still working when I bought it. Has just over 7,000 hours. The guy I got it from was the second owner and he said that it hadn't been overhauled before.

I'm still not sure what exactly occurred first during the breakdown. He said that he used the tractor every year to plow with. It had sat for a year or so without being used, as the owner had fallen and broken his hip. When he was finally well enough to climb up on it again, he started it up and began plowing and all of a sudden it just stalled. He brought another tractor out to pull it to the side and start working on it. The mechanic he hired said it was locked up. Believe it was from the rocker arm being all bent up.

Sure hope to get this thing fixed up.

I bought this replacement drive because my daughters laptop has been freezing up, its only 6 months old. I am trying to avoid returning it to the manufacturer as I am sure I won't be happy with the result. I had mapped a plan to put the new drive in my laptop and restore the system with Macrium Reflect backup software. Then put my old drive in her machine and do a clean install of the OS.<br>

On her laptop besides freezing the backlight keyboard was staying on even when the PC was shutdown. I removed all extraneous software, ran ccleaner, installed all windows updates etc.<br>
<br>
After I ordered the drive I created a new user on her machine. Now logged in as the new user everything is working properly.....:( go figure.....
