I tore my engine apart after checking the carb several times. I went back to the carb after reassembling the engine and found the bushing on the shaft for the butterfly worn. I had a machinist make a new one, he made some extras. I no longer have to run half choke, but have some other issues to correct.

But it depends upon the composition of the fuel. I was still a tractor novice when I experienced my one and only freeze-up on a JM254. I knew about the anti-gel compound, but apparently filled the tank with untreated fuel by mistake. It started up ok right through temps in the teens. But one morning after a single digit night, the tractor was a non-starter.

That was enough to teach me to mark fuel my containers as fuel that was purchased in the summer, or as winter fuel that "should" have been treated before sale. Even then I don't trust the local stations to properly treat the winter fuel - so I still add my own Power Service just to be sure. Since then, I've started tractors down to -7F without difficulty.

Boy those tires hold such a little bit of air any impact as EW pointed out and you probably have a tire loose from the rim. Which never happens near an air compressor and it if fully breaks loose can be a real pain to bet it seated back. Don't ask how I know on the rear wheel of my same Kubota as it has only happened twice. Glad pickup was near by each time for air tank run and run and run. The last time it broke loose totally.

Ole Jeff the above quote is found at the link. The same is found in many post on the internet, NASA's was little too long to post.

But seriously you know winter air is dryer, that is why your skin has such a problem being dry and the large jump in sales of all kinds of creams. The fact cold air has 89% relative humidity could be 100% true but if the air was warmed that 89% would begin to drop as warmed. That is why as warm air goes out my exhaust pipe that is not insulated it sweats or condenses and drips into my house. Just think about where most rain (maybe all I don't know that) comes from. You have a warm air mass that meets a cold air mass. If the warm air mass has a high relative humidity you will have rain or snow. Of course warm air and cold air can be dry or full of moisture as it relates to their tempature.

Now HOT Air from Washington may be a different issue.

My neighbors are having an estate sale with a L2550 with 700 hrs, tires look new, everything is on tractor except missing drawbar (they may have on hand, its is currently hooked to a 5' bushhog) & it is also missing the fuel door on top of hood. Tractor has always been shedded and the sheet metal is good. The serial # is 12550D 50226 but I don't know what year it is. It does not have the DT designation after the L2550 which I have read that means it is a 4WD although this tractor has front tractor cleated tires, no kingpin and the alxe is straight to the hub so I assume it is a 4WD. Does anyone have any idea what this tractor is worth?

My TC55DA developed a hot seat the other night with the wiring harnis catching fire. The fuse did not blow and the wires kept shorting out. With the safety switch on the seat burned, the tractor will start but will not move ( the engin will die when put into gear.) Replacement of the wiring harnis will cost close to $500. <br>
Is there any manufacturing issues with the TC55DA in the wiring area? What do I need to look forward to in the future with this problem?

OEM Dealers are the only ones who sell these type of parts, i. e. You can't get them from just anyone even aftermarket. You might try a New Holland dealer. These guys can be a PIA unless you have part number. You might have better luck walking into through the shop backdoor and talking with an old technican. Show him the part and might recognize it fitting a New Holland. BUT that doesn't mean it will work. Sometimes OEM's purposely rework redesign or tweak parts so that you have no other choice than to buy their part. Try googling your engine number and the words: reman rebuilt new $ and see what comes up.

I have an older 6x4 gator and it was running on idle and all of a sudden it died, turned the key and the starter was going but not the engine. Is there a timing belt maybe or is it dead now?<br>

It is really quite simple. On the seft side of the hydraulic unit that houses your 3 point, under the seat there is a triangle shaped cover that 3 bolts in it. Remove that cover and you should see 3 ports with o-rings on them. The top front one is pressure all the time and the bottom one is return. i think the rear one is to use the 3 point lever for one way hydraulics. The problem is finding the adapter to go voer the holes and allow you to use them. I used a block of aluminum and made my own.

We all choose to belief different levels but what little I know of Leno he does no real endorsements are at least not like most do. He really is a car collector and is shown on auto shows as knowing a good bit on them.

Not sure but was he the one who bought a Harley built for Elvis and it was a junk machine and not known when he did so? Think it was him. Great story who ever it was.

I thought the same and had already put back the original flat seal and tried it that way. The leak was back and the boom still would not lift. So It does not seem the O-ring had anything to do with it. The way this spool works is - when it is down, the boom lowers and this function works. When the spool is up, that is when the boom should lift, but does not.

Thanks - I will most likely call a dealer tomorrow to see if they have any ideas and maybe take it back to them for repair.

I have a power beyond on my 4300 Deere for a Deere 48 hoe. I'm not going to tell ou how to install it, it's just been too long ago since I put mine on. Basicly what it does is take the oil flow going to the three point lift arms and diverting it to back hoe use by uncoupling the hose from one port and reconnecting it to another. Get some instructions from a Deere tech who has did this, it can be done wrong. I do know that there is no bypass valve from the pump when the power beyond hose is'nt commecetd to ethier the three point or the back hoe, so do not start the engine wnen in this situation.

Thanks Murf. I'll look it up. If it's been altered to have less odor than mineral spirits that would be even better :)

I learned something today too. Not all parts washing cabinets are compatible with petroleum distillates. I dunno, in my troglodyte mind it seems that a petroleum distillate that doesn't mix with water is environmentally safer than a bunch of harsh chemicals that do.

At any rate, I'd hardly go so far as to say studs could replace chains, they don't do the same job, nor are they designed for the same circumstances.

Studs are for traction on a hard slippery surface, chains are for traction in snow, sand or mud.

ok i have installed tons of block heaters on gators and tractors the block heater is a screw in with a short prob. and the adapter kit is a bolt on kit that the heater screws in to it. it you look under your fuel filter there will be a frez plug with two holes(one on ether side). hope this helps.
