I'm not familiar with your loader either, but you might have overlooked some possibilities. My Koyker 160 has two lifting eyes (as opposed to hooks). There's one on either side of the bucket - top rear - in line with the lift arms.

Both are overkill so the deciding factors are color, money and new versus used. Kubota is less money by $500 plus the value of no interest for 42 months. If you owe anyone money that you could use your cash to pay off those debts, then that could be a considerable amount of money or if you are borrowing the money to buy the Green. Orange is a beautiful color to alot of people. New versus used to me is worth a fair amount of money and usually is to most people. I realize that everyone doesn't think like me on new vs used. Guess bottom line is paying a considerable amount of more money for something that you don't need like the larger deck and more hp. Warrenty, should it be needed should be longer on the new vs used and repairs if needed are not cheap.

The used JD is at the original selling dealer. Perhaps 'babied' isn't the right word. I know that at 100 hours now it has had its initial service, plus two additional oil changes all performed by the same selling dealer. They know the owner and his property. He would have used it for three hours at a time once or twice a week to cut his grass. It looks new sitting on the lot now.

Dealer does say the motor and powertrain are still warrantied until October '08 as the machine was first put in service in October '05.

I didn't think about over-reving the engine, usually that is not a likely possiblity. It does happen though. Did the operator say anything about the engine operation that was out of the ordinary before the damage happened? If there is a problem with the govenor in the injector pump, you want to have the pump checked before you start the engine again.

I have seen and heard of rare instances of the engine running away and something like this happens.

If the rockers are broken due to valve/piston contact, the valves are likely bent and the pistons damaged. Will all of the valves push up and down freely in the head? Are any stuck in the open position? I sure hope not and it is something else. Diesels rarely miss a beat but when they do, it "ain't" cheap or easy.

Its a little late now but for future reference, you might want to treat your tires with TRC tire seal. I put it in all of my ATV tires, F525, and front tires on the 4410. It works great and no more worries about flats. I have even repaired my neighbors John Deere 5425 front tire with it that had a slow leak.

I don't know your tractor, but have added a FEL to mine. It's a costly attachment (I'd guess around $3k), but I think the most useful. (I assume the tractor is 4WD and the front end's in good condition.) <br>

Any attachment will go on/off any same-catagory tractor easily, but the FEL is an exception. It weighs 500-1000 lbs, must fit perfectly because it moves, and is attached both mechanically and hydraulically. So I'd get a dealer for your make to choose and install it.

I do the Mobil 1 10-30 as specified in the manual and super UDT for the hydro. I did not want to mess with the wider viscosity range of the Rotella. On my Honda cars they even have "5-20 only" written on the cap they are so annal about it, so might as well follow instructions ;)

Plugs are firing, plugs are wet with gas, engine turns over great, fuel lines and pump working great. It's in Neutral, plenty of gas, not even a spit or spirt.<br>

There are two known issues with them.

First, the carrier bearing under the floor board binds up with the drive shaft and secondly, the gear backlash in the front differential is not set properly from the factory sometimes.

Have the dealer check both.

Biggest problem with all of these things seems to be that 2 or 4 wd doesn't change that the whole front end is still turning, add in a bit of wear and some dirt or debris and noise is a sure bet.

This gator has had one previous electrical problem with the cooling fan not comming on. I tracked back to what I think was the problem...the thermastat. I wired directly to a switch and intend to buy a new one. A few weeks later it didn't crank and I tracked it to the fuelpump not comming on when the switch is on. I +/- directly into the fuel pump which pumps great and makes the gator runs fine.<br>
The yellow and black wires leaving the fuel pump, both come out of the harness (under the dash) each into a gang of yellow and black wires. Now I'm beginning to wonder if the cooling fan problem is really the thermastat or simular to this. Anybody want to take a shot at this?? (before along, I can throw away the key and fire it up with the shortcut switches on the dash!)<br>

Frank, the name is part of the assets of the company, patents, tooling, trademarks, name, the whole sooting match.

Unfortunately it's a growing trend to buy the remains of an old company with a good history and exploit it for sales of new products with zero in common with the old company save the name.

For what it's worth, I have heard nothing bad about them, but then they haven't been out long either.

I'm a little late getting in on this and hopefully the tractor is now moving. This tractor is not a hydrostat. be sure you have a range (hi lo etc) properly engaged, one of the 4 gears selected then try the shuttle shift lever forward or reverse. I cant tell you how many times I have not had one or the other fully in gear. If the shuttle shift makes a definete feel of shifting gears, than it is most likely one of the others is not fully engaged....

It will help to know what parts are moving when it is rocking and what parts are not. for example, if it is just the wheel, check the lug nuts (I know that one is obvious) if the flange the wheel is bolted to moves, but not the final drive housing, wheel bearings. if the final drive housing moves, but not the steering knuckle, steering bearings, if the steering knuckle that is supposed to be bolted to the end of the axle moves, loose bolts...etc. we can supply the parts. Sorry I havn't loggen here in a while.
