Murf, What Joel pointed out is very true but each of my motors have their own breaker. I would never even think about working on one unless the breaker was off.

As far as the on/off switches go, I'll try to explain one type I use. Say a feed line. On the end of the feed line there's a control pan. In this control pan there's a paddle that operates a micro switch. When the feed gets low the paddle moves down straight and activates the micro switch. All the micro switch does is open or close L1 or L2 (according to which L you chose when wiring). The fans are a little harder to explain other than they all are wired into relays and the relays are controlled by a computer. Each fan has it's own relay. The relays break either L1 or L2 which shuts that fan off.

Retcol,

I believe the cab on the 40 series is five inches wider than the 30 series tractors.

This information came from the Kubota web site, but for some reason I'm having a difficult time finding it this morning.

Mike, the understanding I have the 3 pt lift arms have to be fully raised to work has to do with who put the aux. hyd valve on. If built into it by Massey you did not have to raise the 3 pt arms. If dealer installed valves, the arms had to be raised to cause the fluid flow to be diverted to those valves. The Massey's I have seen that required the 3 pt arms to be raised I think all have the remote valves installed on top of the transmission. Not saying that holds true for all set ups. Massey still was using this option as recent as about 20 years ago. kt

Get the BX model....it will do just fine. I don't know the price of a BX24 vs. say a B7610 but I'm guessing about the same, but with the hoe you will have a very versatile unit that can do digging to plant the trees you want. You can also trench with it, dig footings for landscaping walls etc. A box blade is the second most useful implement behind the FEL, but not as good for blading snow. Get a straight blade that will angle as well. The FEL is not very useful for moving snow.<br>

Just picked up a 1999 electric Club Cart with new batteries for $1500. We have been having a ball with it. Comes in use for looking after neighbors houses during vacation season, going up and down our hill to the lower yard all the time, drumming up business for neighborhood parties. It has become my wife's main toy. I strapped an empty beer keg on the back one day just for effect. It fit really well ;)

Thanks for the advice Murf! I hadn't thought of booze as an option. I just polished off some Jim Beam myself. But kangaroo - maybe some grain alcohol from Pennsylvania? My son did say their booze was potent :)

Depending on your local market you may be able to find a major brand used for not that much more than a grey market tractor. If you are looking for used major brand check around, I found the price varied a lot in just a few miles. kt

Ihookem, I wouldn't say they're "beat up" but they sure don't look new, that's for sure.

My fleet does some pretty specific tasks, we wear out some very unusual parts but generally speaking we've got the hang of it pretty good by now, we know what parts need lots of lube and attention and what to keep an eye on. We also have a proprietary bunch of self-made parts to beef up the weak spots most people would never come across.

Amongst the more unusual parts we wear out on a regular basis are; the bushings in the 3pth lift arms (the round part with the hole in it), the drawbar (the hole gets worn through to tearing out), seats (we buy them by the skid) tires (some machines go through 3 sets a year!).

It was black. The area around where the plug goes seemed to be blacker or dirtier than normal as well.

I have an 05 GMC 2500 diesel I get 20 mpg hwy,and when I pull my bota 7510 I get 16-17mpg hwy. You can figure on loosing 1.25 mpg per 1000 pounds you are pulling. The diesels have no peer when pulling, you have to remember you have a trailer on though cause you can hardly tell. I have 3:73 axle. Also, don't put biger tires on or you will burn more fuel especially when pulling.

I have a JD 27 HP hydro tractor, and have used it many times to- get ready for this... pull a hay wagon ride with about 10 to 20 people. When pulling the wagon (which is a converted 16 foot trailer) I keep it in 2nd gear, and the max speed is about 7 mph. I have never had a braking problem, or even notice that I am towing a load. In fact, I don't think I have ever used the brakes on this unit. EVER.

Botics,

Kubota's engine oil costs about $3.10 per quart. If you use any other brand, you'll save only about 30 cents.

For the couple of bucks you'll save, at most, I don't see any reason to purchase anything but the Kubota oil.

I got a replacement for my BX24 seat but did have to pay $50 for it. Kubota notified dealers but not owners of a deal on replacement seats. They have "more room" in the rump area so don't make you slide off like the ones that they had put on the BX series. Those seats were like a "lazy L" and you could not lean back or you just slid forward due to the angle of the bottom of the seat combined with the leaned back top of the seat.
