Hey dr.... this is the first I'm hearing about Rhino BH. I like the $avings you mentioned so it'll be something I'll take a look at. I also heard that NH was going to have their own BH for the TZ18 this spring. This was from the dealership as he stated that the TZ series had gone beyond their expectations and they really weren't ready for the production of some of the implements. Thanks for the reply. PS... saw your pic's of the Farmall and I'm jealous brother. Farmalls are my favorite.

MICHIGANDER: From a fellow Michigander--I agree about pond scum. My customer was determined to use his two ponds I dug him to water his 6 acres. The ponds have small fish. He has a potable well, but it requires expensive peroxide to kill sulfer-producing bacteria. We used homeowner-type sprinkler heads and a centrifugal water well pump. I put the intake into a 5-gallon bucket about 6' down to keep from sucking pond mud. After about 5 minutes pressure dropped to zero. Cause: Insect parts, fish gills, and string-algae clogging the heads. Installing a good fliter system just didn't make sense let alone the daily maintenance to get rid of debris. Now he wants to drill a new well strictly for watering.

It's not uncomnon to see shoddy workmanship installing a new line such as kinking the line because it is too long or not laid correctly, or the trench was not flat-bottomed but rather scalloped. Other things can happen such as a rock or other debris falling/being in the trench and kinking the line before or during backfilling---each event could have kinked the line. You would have to dig up sections and pressure/volume test to determine where the kink(s)is. Have you tried running a new line on top of the ground and seeing what happens with the volume and pressure? (you might be able to simulate this with just a garden hose)

Sometimes guys use thicker oil in an attempt to reduce oil consumption, but it does cause increased wear during cold starts. I'd give 5W-30 a try.

Make sure your fuel shutoff knob is pushed all the way in. That one has gotten me a couple times!

I don't mean this to be nasty, but . . .

If your dealer knew of the problem of non-aligned holes, shouldn't that have been an item of inspection by the dealer prior to turning the new tractor over to you--sort of a "dealer prep?" Or, do dealers just expect you to find stuff that is wrong, and then convince them to fix it?

Again, I'm not trying to start a fight between you and your dealer, but it sounds as if you did not get good service. Or, do I not understand how tractor dealers work?

Last weekend my wife and I went out to get a Christmas tree at a nearby tree farm. The particular farm we frequent buys New Holland equipment exclusively. They had one on display as a promo for a local dealer. As I was looking at the brand new machine my wife informed me that I should have bought "the blue one" instead of "the orange one" because it was a "prettier color". Sheesh.

There is also the CSA (Consumer Supported Agriculture) movement. This is almost like a u-pick vegie garden, where the individual customers sign up for an allotment of produce per week during the growing season. The exact items are not specified, just round amounts (so many lbs. greens, so many roots, etc) so if one crop doesn't work, another is substituted. But this would be a pretty diverse planting and would require a real interest on your part.

I dont no about "fleet sales" but in my area you can buy a 1 ton dodge diesel cheaper then a 1 ton ford diesel with equal options. It is over a $2000 us dollar difference in price.

If you are going to be digging over a lot of indifferent ground you might want to talk to your dealer about also installing the Deere rental package as it can save you repairs underneath the tractor. You also need to consider that the full subframe hoes do cut the ground clearance a bit.

Now I am looking at the 54" manual Kubota fron blade (TG2754). Does anyone know what this setup would cost? I only have the 60mmm and grass catcher at this time. I want to add a FEL but the funds won't allow it now. I was reading on a BB that the TG2754 was $350. Is that all I need to spend or is there more parts the Kubota site does not tell me about?

I bought my first "its too good to be true" ebay item this past week. I paid with paypal so I was not really worried but didn't expect to get it. It did come and was as described, a brand new, still oil and gas, dry 13HP Honda engine for my log splitter. It had a healthy layer of dust on it, but $325 buy it now, $35 shipping anywhere in lower 48, $10 insurance. I have been searching for one for over a year now at a reasonable price. Usually shipping alone is $65 and up and used engines bring around that price. I bought a similar one last year for over 450, but the seller and UPS both damaged it so it went back.

Well, It could come in handy mowing around my pond, which has a slippery slope. Also, I thought it could do other things, such as light gardening, scraping with a blade, maybe even run a small bush hog or tiller. Is it not enough tractor for these jobs? I guess a loader is out of the question?

AV8R is on the right track.

Check each glow plug INDIVIDUALLY, if any are too high or low in resistance change them.

Another known problem is that when they get older the relay that powers the glow plugs gets weak and drops the power to them prematurely.

OK, leave alone the comment about getting older and going off prematurely.... ;->

Give me a little detail on cold starts, and especially the stalling part, there are a few other possibilities.
