Seems odd the manual does not cover this. I don't have your model but am not aware of a red light on either of Kubota's dashes and had both running yesterday afternoon. Since the manul does not cover it I wonder could a dealer have installed something and the red light for it?

When are you see the red light? when switched on and engine off? Cranking? Glow plugs being used (not sure it has glow plugs)? Engine running?

It would seem if Kubota installed a red light it would be a warning to shut down such as low oil pressure, hot coolant or water level in fuel filter or clogged air filter. My only real solution is to follow the wire. Guess it could be PTO is engaged.

Right off think you will find the MF parts much easier to find. At one time the NAPA stores did sell some parts for MF. No idea if there is anything special on the 1030 model MF or not. One advantage of the Mitts is you probably have a tractor they built while MF has no plants of their own.

Have you looked to see if your manual gives you any idea on the amount of slope? My guess is they will be very vage due to liability issue. Your question is much longer than my experience for we don't have hills here. But for what it is worth I have driven CUT and Mid size tractors down slopes of every bit 30 degrees with no issue. Never driven up that steep a slope but have backed up some. Never had a FEL on a tractor doing so but have done it a lot with rear blade or box blade and pulling dirt as I going. Would never think to try driving up such a slope pulling a blade.

Again no hills here so the distance has never been more than 20 feet or so.

If you will do a search for the standards for Interstate you might find the info there of value.

Kevin, I agree with Murf's comment right after this question. To me good dealers are worth a ton. From what I have seen, you are truly professional. Also as Murf said, my two cents worth.

Pete you are very right there are some great people here who will help any way they can. At same time there is some good ribbing as I learned years ago only happens with friends.

When it comes to hooking and unhooking your mowers keep your hands safe. I don't like to handle the pto when the tractor is running. Be sure you have the shaft locked on before leaving it. Keep the latch clean and the splines with light coat of grease or such on it. Helps a lot. I try to keep a sleeve over the male end when not connected. Be sure to keep the pto shafts greased.

Engine RPMS have been mentioned but when it comes to mowing remember the engine rpms must be there to get the blade speed and the travel speed is transmission job, not the engine.

One other warning on the hydo transmission, assuming you are married...wifes like that size tractor with the hydro transmission. Let your wife use it a time or two even helping you hook or unhook something and you may find yourself looking for a second machine. Not necessary a bad thing. You know, the couple who mows together deal. For rough cut mowing (many call that Bush hogging) I really like the hydo over gear.

NOt smart enough to say injector or filter by no means but just cause you replaced a filter four hours ago does not mean it could not be clogged. Realize it probably is not but hit a tank of fuel (transport tank) that required a filter change about every 10 t0 20 gallons. Had no problem understanding why they closed the pumps right after I pumped my tank. Matter of fact closed the whole station.

Thought I had this posted, so it might so up twice.

The best I can find this engine was also used in some New Holland tractors. The SAF number seems to be a serial number as nothing could be found under that.

As to why they used a different brand engine...done all the time by about all companies from auto to heavy equipment.

I think they make some of the small New Holland tractors. It might be they can help you. Don't be surprised if you call a New Holland dealership who can not or will not help you to find another will. Having part in hand and being polite can help.

Using the numbers you gave the V52F seems to be the model and the best I could find is also used in some New Holland tractors so they might have the parts. The SAF 004222 my guess is serial numnber.

As to why did one company use another company's engine...well you can ask about any company out there as most if not all have or do so. From autos to heavy equipment. For what ever reason it makes more sense than developing and or building the number of engines they need or they don't have the time table to do so.

I find using such as "iron planet" is a good place to get an idea of what is selling or has sold recently. ebay can also give you an idea and for smaller tractors might be better.

Murf, Dennis has a Kubota with FEL on it. That should be enough weight to hold that brick down. On the serious side plastic coated weights should be safe to the brick. Just stack them safely. Just be sure you don't glue them there.

State Farm did all kind of reports on how much they paid in damage per year due to water lines freezing in unheated houses. Seems to be a major issue in houses where people cut off the heat and leave for the winter or say long vacation but leave the water on.

Dennis, about 98% sure this is the local company who runs radio ads for such repairs as you are facing. They say they have a system to go into your water lines and coat the inside to seal those leaks and prevent them. No idea past their radio add and realize they are not local to you but if they really can do it then there are plumbers near you who can. Surely if you contacted them they could tell you what the procedure is called or what to ask for.

It makes me think you have something in the linkage that may be loose such a pin dropped out of place. Look to see if when you work the lever any linkage it connects to is moving.

I don't remember all of the details about Farmtrac and have heard nothing in the last few months...but you may find a problem with any dealer support or parts. (Think they went bankrupt at least in part to the owners taking pulling all money out of the company and heading to India for safety from lawsuit. They were bought I think by Montano and hard rumor to have great support but the last was told had not happen.)

Before you buy suggest you make sure those issues are solved.

Does the rear blade with the hyd cylinder work well? How large a cylinder do you have on it? Now it could also pivot it would be neat.

Auerbach, to begin with not saying any of this is safe. I looked at Oregon's site and they show a lot of 14 inch blades with center hole. Guess you might could buy a blade long enough you could cut the length you need and drill it.

It has been years back I worked with drill jigs. We use a steel called then "Tool Steel". It was easy to drill, grind or weld until harden. Then it made great drill bushings and would wear and wear and wear. Of course that means it was very hard so would be dangerous about breaking. You probably could find specs on it to harden it some for wear but not easy broken.

Also they do make a abrasive grade steel used in some things like buckets and other wear edges. It can be welded and I think drilled.

I understand Murph's concern and not taking anything away from it.

Have you tried the farm dealerships especially the hay guys to see if they happen to have blades that fit as Murph has suggested? Not sure of their size and could not find it but "Power Trac" uses blades along that design on one or some of their mowers.
