What would cause a 4600 to lose its prime after sitting a short period of time. Say 1-2 hours. I can manually pump the primer lever and it will start, but not if I haven't reprimed it. The filter glass is on tight. Open to suggestions for problems and resolutions.

I'd be willing to bet you have a leaking injector tip. It is leaking the diesel down into one cylinder. It's about the only thing that would do it that fast.
It's also not just losing it's prime, you have one cylinder that is flooding from the leaking fuel.
When it does start, there's more smoke, likely white or light grey, than usual?
Best of luck.

Haven't noticed the color of the smoke. Sounds logical too when I think about it bogging down at full throttle in range G. At top speed it gets close then bogs down like it is flooding out. How do I determine which injector it is? Or just replace all 4 at the same time? ....

Before I started pulling injectors out I'd being pouring a whole bunch of cleaner through that motor. It's likely nothing more than some deposits that have built up.
If that doesn't work then, and only then would I pull them. It isn't too much money to have them overhauled. Any decent farm equip. dealer will be able to tell you where to take them for that.
Best of luck.

Sounds to me like the lift pump is going or already bad bogging down not from too much fuel but not enough. Or the fuel filter is clogged which would exhibit the same. ....

Fuel filter is new is only 4 hours on it. It helped the bogging down when I changed but but did not eliminate it completely. Now it is losing prime. I have to pump the priming lever in order to get it to fire. Once it is running it is fine except for road gear. Then it tends to bog down some. Not to the point of stalling like it did before. While working at full throttle it runs great, just when I transit to a new location doeing it bog. ....

NOt smart enough to say injector or filter by no means but just cause you replaced a filter four hours ago does not mean it could not be clogged. Realize it probably is not but hit a tank of fuel (transport tank) that required a filter change about every 10 t0 20 gallons. Had no problem understanding why they closed the pumps right after I pumped my tank. Matter of fact closed the whole station. ....
