I am looking at the competitive comparison page from the kubota site for the B7800. They compare a B7800HST to a JD4210 Hydro. The Kubota weighs in at 1890 lbs and the JD weighs in at 2675 lbs. The Kubota is almost 800lbs less. I imagine that this would affect the lifting capacity with the loader. Is it a simple matter of using a ballast box or loaded tires to make up for this (so the tractor doesn't get tippy)? How about the weight affect on backhoe usage? I would think you would be able to drag or bounce the machine around that much easier with the hoe. And finally, I would think it is easier to lose traction when pulling or pushing with the machine.
I plan on eventually using the machine to mow, so I would think that the machine would be easier on my septic system.

Lift capacity of the loader is pretty much independent of the weight of the machines. The JD 420 loader on the 4210 is pretty close to the Kubota loader on most specs and a little stronger in some. Either machine would have to be properly ballasted for loader use but the JD may need a bit less weight. My guess is that the lighter machine would get tossed around a bit more with a backhoe. ....

It is simply the wrong comparison.
The 4115 weighs 1779 pounds, has 20 horses at the PTO and similar wheel base and tire size to the 7800/2910.
Adding an FEL and a backhoe effectively doubles the base weight and 3600+ pounds makes a very stable and easily transportable backhoe platform. ....

I agree. I looked at both and would compare the Kubota B series to the JD 41xx series. The JD 42xx series is a different size tractor. I have the 7800 and really like it. The power to weight ratio is really comfortable. I have loaded rear tires and have no problems with traction at all. The lighter weight is nice for working and mowing the lawn, and especially for transportation. ....

I got my tires loaded on my B7500. The lighter machine, is easyer on grass. But i used mine for grading and landscape work. So i couldn't put a weight box on it. You can build your self one very easy out of a 55 gallon plastic drum and some concrete. ....
