I’m trying to decide between a Kubota B7800 4WD with FEL and a JD 4210 4WD and FEL. Both have Hydrostatic transmissions. The Kubota is $14,400 and the JD 4210 is $16,700. Besides being a good American by buying a JD (Made in America), what are the other benefits of spending an extra $2,300? I’m located in the Houston, TX area. I hope I don't get into trouble with the good American comment.

Like most American products, the 4210 is assembled here from parts made all over the world.
So I guess you would have to ask: do more Americans work at the Georgia Deere plant or do more Americans work for the Kubota US distribution system? There. A bigger can of worms.
I would put the two models you have chosen in different classes. The B7800 is closer to the JD 4115 in performance and weight.
The 4210 is nearly 1000 pounds heavier and is considered underpowered for its weight class by most Green fans. ....

The Kubota B series are assembled here and the parts are made in Japan. Kubota controls every part of the manufacting process. Deere contracts out alot of the work and they just assemble it. Which is why they had those transmission problems. The 4210 and the B7800-B2910 have the same standards. The 4210 28 HP, B7800-B2910 30 HP. Get the kubota, it will last longer. And this is coming from a Kid who grew up with JD. ....

Here we go again. There is no inherent reason why a company that builds parts in house produces higher quality than companies that design and specify components from other manufacturers. Dodge trucks with CUMMINS engines are preferable to those with Dodge engines for example. A case could be made that companies specializing in certain types of components produce better quality products. Does Kubota make their own bearings, seals, switches, semiconductors, tires, brake linings, springs, fluids, plastic, bolts, nuts, etc, etc? If not, why not?
In the end they are both good brands backed by good companies and you can't go wrong with either one.
lecour, DRankin is right the 4210 is in a different weight class from the B7800, and if you were going with that class JD machine you would be better off with a 4310. ....

I drove both when I was going through the same thing. The B7800 is lighter, which has some definite advantages if you are mowing with it, and want to trailer it around. I agree with the comments about the Deere being underpowered. It felt like it driving it even around the dealership. The 7800 felt lighter and better balanced.
This discussion will probably go on indefinitely. They are different tractors. Drive them both and pick the one you feel most comfortable with. I have the B7800 and it is a great tractor to work with. Plenty of power, yet not too heavy to be versatile. The only thing I don't like about it is the 1/4" valve on the 3-point. I find it hard to work with.
The machine is tight and is very well built. ....

Kubota is just like any other tractor maker. They tell someone what they want (whether it be their workers/engineers or another parts manufacturer) and they build it to that spec. People are misled into thinking Kubota manufactures the whole shittin shabang. Nope, not true. They build an excellent product, there's no doubt. ....

I vote Kubota!! I own a JD. Dont get me wrong, JD is a good machine but the people of JD & i dont mean your local dealer people, Are all arrogant snobs. I had a major warrenty issue & they weren't willing to resolve it. My dealer faught for me but there was only so much he could do. ....

I had to have a meeting with BOB Mills. Do you know him?? He is from corporate headcorders. He wasnt willing to admit that they should do me right by their flaw. My loader used to "POP" off when i had material in it when I hit a slight bump while traveling slowly. It came off several times on me & damaged my hood & side panels not to mention the hour it took me to out it back on.They redisigned the laoder for 2000.My machine is a 99. But Bob basically said I should have bought a 2000. Instead of fixing the problem. So I had my dealer modify it & it cost me several hundred to replace the hood & side panels. GO Kubota!!! Kubota will be my next tractor. ....

Kubota's B7800 is their bare bones 30hp unit, if you want to make a fair comparision between tractors with similar features, compare the Kubota B2910 to the New Holland TC29DA to the JD 4210. The B7800 compares to the NH TC30 or the JD 790 tractors for price & features (or lack of features). ....
