I want a sub compact tractor with a belly mower and FEL but am having trouble finding what i want with both options, my question is can you put a belly mower on a tractor by using the rear pto with some sort of converter? But would still allow you to use the rear pto for other attachments?

I don't know of any attachments like you are describing, however Kioti will be coming out with the CK20 in the spring. Has mid and rear PTO. and available with FEL. Will be avail in HST and manual transmissions. I am not a dealer or anything like that. Just wanted you to be aware of it in case it fills your needs. Check to see if you have a Kioti dealer near you. ....

I don't know if you can run the Belly mower with the FEL on the CK20. The Kubota BX22 shows the mower mounted with the FEL.
There were older MMM used on tractors such as the Cub that ran with belts and then shaft off the rear PTO. My older JD 750 had an electric clutch on the front engine pulley that allowed a belt drive to the MMM.
I have not seen units like these for a modern tractor.

If I've got the problem it's that a sub-compact that has a mid-pto can't be found that also has a loader frame that's compatible with any MMM.

Rear to front pto conversion kits are made, and probably one could be found or fabricated that would accommodate the needed mower shaft location, direction of rotation and rpm. They are problems though and expensive too. I don't know how easy it'd be to use 3ph implements and they'd reduce already low ground clearances as well. Many people seem to solve the problem by going for loaders and MMM's that are easy to swap although that would be a disagreeable solution for me.

I think that maybe the costs of dealing with all the restrictions and conversions might be enough to buy a tractor where everything is compatible.

Corey; I had a Woods belly mower on a "B" Farmall. It drove with a pulley on the rear 540 pto thru a series of idler pulleys to the mower deck. This was an older unit and perhaps the newer ones have been improved, but it did give some trouble. The mid PTO is a much simpler trouble free setup, I also think the rear PTO drive to a mid mount mower could be a pricey affair. ....

I have been looking at a used bx 2200 and that seemed to fit the bill for everything i need, i would just have to put on the FEL, it already has a mid and rear PTO and 60" belly mower so after i put on the FEL i would have around $9500.00 into the package and was just shopping around and noticing that most of the used advertisements i see don't say anything about a mid PTO. Do most sub compacts have a mid PTO and are just not in the advertisement? ....

Corey,
I'm not sure about the other sub-compacts but the information I have about Kubota's BX2200 states that the belly mower and the FEL can be attached at the same time. The belly mower uses the mid PTO so that would leave the rear PTO open for other attachments. The mid and rear PTOs can also be run together or by themselves. I hope this helps.

Perhaps a less expensive solution, the older Kubota B7100 tractors that were updated several years ago could do it all. The only drawback to them other than lower HP was the loader was not a quick attach type, that is why I did not use one on mine. A guy up the road from me has one set up that way and it does not seem to impede his mowing. You could probably pick up one of those machines for considerably less $$ if you are trying to reduce cost. ....

There are several belly mowers available with a rear drive pto! They have been recently seen on some of the Chinese lines of tractors but they available after market by several manufacturers. There is no conversion on these machines but they are designed with a drop down PTO gearbocx that turns the PTO driveline around. It has been around for a while. However, they are now falling into dis-favor because of the difficulty in hook-up and only marginal benefits over a rear mount finishing mower. When belly mount mowers are attatched, it severly limits ground clearance and usuability of the tractor. Many people are finding that the ease of attatchment of a rear FM is preferable.

Don't forget that belly mowers consume more power than a rear FM. ....
