some simply would slide out, others you had to remove a nutand faniggle with it.) take lines and bolts off pump and have a new seal put in. Before you do all that. Smell your oil. Smell like diesel? Oil level really high? thin looking too?

P.S. Use only 30 wt non-detergent motor oil in hydraulics. This will give you many happier years of service. You can still buy this oil at Dollar General or other like stores for .75 a qt.

I keep a Magnum Research Baby Desert Eagle close at hand. Its .40 S&W bore can provide the necessary knock down and great accuracy with its 6 inch, hexagonal rifling. I bought it a few years back right before the majority of Police forces in my area were making the switch from 9mm to the .40S&W in my area. With 10 round mag rated capacity, it could be coaxed into holding 12 though this is techinically illegal now. Mine is not though. I'll settle for ten. Its ballistics are interesting, providing similar knock down capabilities as a 357 although not quite as much and much better than a nine. Plus the gun has the best comdort and feel of any handgun I've ever tried. Well balanced and a quality feel. It is made in Israel by Israeli Military Industries, the manufacturers of UZI. The gun was briefly imported by Mossberg and was branded UZI baby eagle for a while before Magnum research repurchased the gun.<br>
Available with 4 inch barrel and in composite as well. My favorite feature, besides the quick breakdown, is the ambidextrous nature of the gun. Decocker included in saftey with firing pin block.<br>

Also, I keep a 12 guage rifled slug gun (sabot slugs) with a 24 inch barrel. This gun would literally bring down an elephant. I've never had a deer walk off when it makes contact. They make some nasty slugs for this thing. Although a single shot, it is quickly reloaded and has little potential to jam with its powerful ejectors. Also, it can be shot with a load of buckshot or birdshot as needed. With its short barrel, it is the next best thing to a sawed-off shotgun. Plus if you run out, the sheer weight of the gun makes for plenty of lethal hand to hand. <br>

Last, but not least, a rifle is always need. I am looking for another now. But I have come to the conclusion that the SKS 7.62 rifles are a great value. These tamed down semi auto versions of the AK 47's are durable and cheap. They have been manufactured by the millions and are carried by many(ahem!) military regimes. They take dirt sand and water with little problems. Also pre-ban models will accept the bannana clips. No ammo shortage here. If I recall correctly, I believe the Romananian built ones are the most coveted, although many egyptian and chinese models are out there. Ammo is cheap too! Sporterized nylon stock models are worth the investment, because, they make a decent mid range large game rifle.<br>

True, but when home welding, and even in most industrial purposes, the presets are suitable. I also have found that these types last longer than the "infinitely adjustable" types due to the control mechanisms stripping out.

Okay,
I think everyone seems to agree on horsepower determination. After researching it and trying to remember from my school days, does anyone of you "engineers" know a formula that can be predictive of torque. I know it is a measurable element of figuring horseower. However, if HP is not known may one be able to figure torque based off bore, stroke and total dispacement? I can't recall any discussions other than the HP formula given.

Seriously tractors are meant to get that way. Whether or not you clean the grease off the nipples won't add or subract one minute from the life of the tractor. Unless you do it for personal pride and then may I elude to the infinite source of wisdom of the Bible ... pride goeth before fall.<br>

But if you must, a little mineral spirits and a rag do the trick.

Quick hitch is right. They are available from Speeco for less than 200. E-mail me for a source on them.

A rule of thumb is to hook left side up first, then use leveling box on right to compensate for differences in hitch pin height. The top link is last. Then you can raise or lower implement from the lift contol handle to match up to the length of the top-link. Once all is hooked and pinned, adjust leveling box and then toplink into correct operating position. Unhook on flat ground or pouring a concrete pad helps. I find that setting an implement off on a couple of landscaping timbers helps raise the pins up enough to make it easier for the implement to mate to the tractor. Also it won't rust to the ground or freeze as some of the snow country people fuss about.

Don't do this tired, hot or previously frustrated or in a hurry because nothing will work when you are in this condition.

Or, do as one recent customer of one of my dealers did after he inherited a couple mil. ... buy a tractor for each piece of equipment and don't unhook.

These tractors although rougly similar to the C series CIH in appearance are not cloned from any other tractor except Eicher themselves. They have air-cooled engines, with each cylinder being independently cooled. Standard shidt transmissions with out board "bull gear" reduction. This is just the particular styling the Indians chose for the US. Market after several years of market research. New updates to the styling are in the works. It will look similar to the existing 485 that are sold here now. Should be here by October. Click on pic to see 485 and its appearance.

Although the 6100 tractor is from the Valmet design, it is not as similar to the old 365 as it is to the newer 600 and 700 series tractors. What may be posted on the net is an older version of the tractor. The sheet metal has been changed to the updated version of the 600 Valtra. Also, you will find that the castings and design of the basic tractor are identical, with some of the items on the three point hitch being "beefed" up for the Indian and US Market. The transmission is the same (Spicer) with the exception that it only has hi and lo with the med range as special order option. 4 Wd is now available on Special order for this tractor. Eicher has decided to give all the tractors one look and this includes the 6100. It is now available in India with 2 sheet metals. The idea is that it will be cheaper to produce. Also this sheet metal will be availble only in future 7100 series.

I know that the CAD thing is enticing. But what will you have when you finish? About 3000-4000 in a hoe that may or may not do the work you require. And one no one else may be intersted in buying once you ge through.

May I be so bold as to offer an slight improvemnent, one that I was comtemplating for our Mazzotti backhoes. Being a three point hitch mounted hoe, they have the ability to be modified without structural changes to fit on a trailer. Add an engine and a jackshaft(or remove the 540 reducer housing of the pump) and two front stabilizers and you are finished in a day. Yes it may cost slightly more, but you have a industrial backhoe mounted on a trailer. Plus if the day comes for something with four wheels moving under its own power, it can be removed and used back on a tractor. Cost for hoe :$4595

Look at the Eicher 485, is only 13,400 full list with 51 hp. And there are dealers in MS. But I don't know how close. The other ones are close in price as well.

Well, I think I understand your point Doc. But I have seen people get these tests back and freak because all of their readings don't peg the scale. The truth is in this case a little knowledge puffs up. Interpreting scientific data in these cases is not absolute. There are recommendations that are made in the reports that must be applied sometimes in various ways not up to a new comer.

Also, lets just think about the inexperience of someone pulling soil samples. Many people pull a plug of soil from one problem spot and put it in a bag. NOT a good thing to do for good results. The correct method assumes that one sample bag is representative of several acres. This means that a sample must be random and in several locations per acre. Then samples must be mixed thoroughly in a bucket and then and only then should the representative sample be drawn for the bucket and placed in a bag. OH, lets not forget the possibility of cross contamination of a sample by using a galvanized container(ZN and Fe) or one possibly that previously held fertilizer or in some cases manure. Think about it. Small timers would benefit from advice and gentle experience than face the challenge of performing a test like this and then be left to figure out its practical applications.

Some states require that UCC's be filed in the county of residence of the borrower and other states require that they be filed with the state. Find out which you are dealing with. Then contact the appropriate entity and they can tell you.

A rollover is nice. But any regular box blade will do. Make sure that the cutting edges are reversable though. Also, you might consider a pulverizer for the final grade work. Especially before laying sod.

Buy a new one. No seriously, the last time I fooled with one, I said that a disc mower was the only way to go. Maybe mr. Corriher can shed some light. He is NH. Lets see how good his service is. I used to work for NH, but it has been so long that I can't remember exactly what to do to relace the belts on the old 472's. Maybe if you refresh my memory..... I can give some help. Seems that there is an adjusment bolt that is the key.
