I need advice from someone who may have experienced the same problem or knows something about this problem!
My Kioti LB1914 is again experiencing steering problems. This is the second time. The steering wheel will turn completly in circles without moving the front wheels. This happended to me before and I ordered a new power steering pump ($800) and had it installed by my dealer. This seemed to fix the problem, but the problem has returned in less that 30 more hours of work with the machine. (I only use the machine for snow removal and moving brush, ect. around my home. No real heavy work.)
I have found that if I lower the bucket and take pressure off the front wheels, the steering returns to the wheels. As soon as I let the tractors weight back onto the front wheels, the tractors will no longer steer. The steering wheel will turn, but the wheels will not rotate.
The tractor has less than 400 hours on it, and the dealer says he don't know what the problem can be.
Has anyone had this problem, or have an idea, or can offer an intelligent guess as to what my problem could be.
I welcome any and all advice, and thank you all for any help you could give me.

In general I would look for a pressure relief valve popping off way to soon or just staying open. There must be one in the steering system somewhere.
Check the fluid level also, Kioti has had a problem with hydraulic hoses leaking according to the dealer I spoke to a couple months ago. ....

How old is the tractor? There were 2 Different styles of steering depending on the year. Did the replacement power steering motor fix the problem to as good as new condition? Or just make it better? The motor should be covered under its own warranty regardless of age of the tractor. The warranty for parts is 3 months. Ask the dealer to tell Kioti Parts about it.
Lut me know how it goes. ....

Thanks for your help, guys........I will check the year and post it later today...As far as the new power steering pump (not motor), I would say that it made it better, but I could still sense that it was not completly steering as it did when it was new......Again, thanks for any ideas, and I will post the year of the tractor later in the day! ....

Your steering valve is giving the problem, not the pump. This is characteristic of many brands of steering servos to do this. Look at the valve that your steering wheel goes into. this is the servo. Either there is a bad valve in it or there is an airlock in the line( a very likely possibility).
You need another dealer if he can't figure this out! Any dealer knowlegeable should be able to pressure test and other rudimentary tests to determine cause. ....

Thank you kindly for your answers....Per request, I can be reached via email at: bpaltridgehvc.rr.com (place the at sign between the e in my name and the h in hvc.)
The dealer just called and said that after being in touch with other Kioti dealers, they all agree that the problem is in the power steering motor. It seems this motor is added after market, if a bucket is attached to the tractor. This motor is located behind the radiator. That, they claim, is the reason there is no mention of it in the shop manuals that I purchased for this tractor.
They want $700 for the motor and $100 total labor. Last year when I had the same problem they replaced the pump as I stated in my first note.
I appreciate all of your answers, and will continue to check here for your thoughts. Also will check my email if anyone wishes to contact me directly. Thanks again! ....

I thought you fellows might be interested in the outcome of this problem.
I printed out all the suggestions that you guys gave me and brought them to my dealer. Immediately he discounted any of the suggestions you guys made and said that he was sure the motor was the problem and it would be fixed in a couple of days. That was about a week ago.
Tonight he called and said that the problem "WAS NOT" the motor (just as you guys all said). He only would tell me that there was a glitch somewhere and it was repaired and there would be no charge.
His pickup and delivery will also be free. My guess is that after reading your suggestions (and perhaps replacing the motor) he found out is was not the motor.
At any rate, I want to thank you all for saving me $800. I am sure that without my bringing your suggestions to his attention, he would have screwed me. Thanks to all of you who offered suggestions! ....

I have the same problem and this seems to work - when I first start up the tractor I let it warm up a bit but I also turn the steering wheel end-to-end (all the way left and then all the way right) about 2 or 3 times. This seems to get all the air bubbles out and then the tractor seems to turn better. I notice a big difference in steering when I forget to do this. My thinking is the system gets air into the system when its cold and you just have to work it out before you start out. Works for me!
I think your right where its a valve letting air in versus the pump because turning the wheel (getting the air out) seems to fix the issue each time. ....
