servicing the Belarus 1770 and found the drain plugs to be made of some kind of plastic. i was wondering if anyone knows what kind of thread these tractors use? metric or british pipe? NPT? has anyone replaced the plugs with metal? wouldn't hurt to know what threads are on the hydraulic valves?

Late to the party, but here I am!!
Being a Belarus anything threaded is almost guaranteed to be a metric thread. While I'm not familiar with that one in particular, I'd say a great place to start would be McMaster-Carr, they usually show a good level of detail in their listings.
The other suggestion would be to take it to a fastener supply place or European auto parts place.
If what's in it was plastic it's surely a replacement I'd be getting rid of ASAP. One of the things the Rooskie's were good at was building stupid simle stuff that could be maintained by stupid simple peasants. LOL. It certainly had an iron plug with a magnet in it from the factory.
Best of luck.

thanks Murf. all of the drain plugs are what looks to be nylon material. even the knobs that hold the valve covers on are made of the same material. they are all painted with the original paint. ....

That’s very strange, I’ve never seen that from the factory.
Are you sure it’s a 1770 model? What I’m seeing online is that it would be a 29k pound 185 hp beast. Is that what you have.
Best of luck. ....
