My 955 will run fine and when I turn it off it will not start again. If I jump the battery from a running vehicle it will start and may start another 5 to 8 times and then won't start again unless I jump it again. Any suggestions?

Put a battery minder on it if you have one and see if it gets a full charge. ....

Thanks for the reply
I guess I'm a little slow, but what is a battery "minder"? I have a battery charger unless that's what you call a minder? I have checked that battery in the past and it shows a full charge. ....

If you have not done it yet I would clean up the battery terminals. By full charge you mean voltmeter shows more than 12 volts?

While showing more than 12 volts is a good sign it does not mean the battery is up to the task of cranking the motor. The have battery testers that assess that in theory.

Battery Minder = Trickle charger for long term battery storage ....

Hey thanks for replying again I sure appreciate your help. Thanks for the explanation of a minder, "trickle charger". I tested the battery with my tester, but will take it to a dealer and see what they say about it under load.
But what's crazy is it will start numerous times after a jump and then all of a sudden not start. I guess I'm also going to check the switch; as this switch also has a discharge function if you turn that switch too far to the left. I've never seen a switch like it before.
and thanks again. ....

If it's not used often you could have a sticky starter solenoid.

Next time it happens get someone to hold the key in the start position and tap the starter with a rubber or soft-face hammer.

If that lets it start the issue is the starter.

Best of luck. ....

I took my battery out and had it tested under load and it said to replace. So I did that and have only started it a couple of times so far, so really don't know if that fixes problem. Have been under the weather for a time and waiting for surgery on my mouth, have plugged saliva gland. I hope my problem is solved and thanks for your help. ....

well I have started my 955 several times now and it appears the starting problem may be solved. Thanks.
However, I still have a problem with the belly mower as it will not start every time I throw the lever. It appears there is a magnetic connection that pulls a switch and starts the mower. It will usually start the first time when the mower is cold. However, once the unit gets hot and you shut off the mower it usually will not start again. has anyone else ever had this problem and what is the fix? ....
