I have finally found a JD 72' belly mower (in good condition)I can afford and now need a mid pto kit, but am having no luck finding one. Does any one have a new or used kit for sale or a lead where to get one? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

I know this probably isn't going to be of much use to you, but I thought I'd post it in the event that you haven't already gotten this far with your search.
The John Deere Parts Website shows the Mid Mount PTO for 870 tractor as being John Deere Part# AM877586.

Mid-PTO Kit (Optional)
Key# 56
The price shown is $1123.50, less shipping.
However, now that you have a part number, you might find one on Ebay, Craigslist, or from some other source.
Hope you find one.

last year i found a kit j.d.part#17994 on e-bay and i am currently installing it on a 2002 j.d. 790 after i was told by several dealers that there were no more kits in stock anywhere. i got extremely lucky. i believe i only paid $359 dollars or something like that. like i said, i got lucky. i don't know if the 870 tractor is like the 790 or not. the 770 and 790 are similar and i think there is another model number thats interchangeable also.
