I can press the pedal a little and it will start and work fine. I thought I had this exact problem fixed under waranty seven years ago. I thought they replaced an electrical component--that never fails--and that was it.
Any ideas out there?

Do the hydro pedals on the 4400 operate potentiometers which might be out of calibration? If so it might be that the tractor won't start if it thinks one or both hydro pedals are pressed. By pressing the pedal you might be zeroing it so it then thinks it isn't pressed. This is a major SWAG on my part. ....

A simple adjustment.
There is a micro-switch that senses the pedal position, to prevent starting with the pedal depressed in either direction.
Yours has moved a little so it thinks that neutral is not the right spot.
Best of luck. ....
