Can anyone tell me the difference between a 4310 and a 4410?
I know there is a HP difference but otherwise the engines seem identical. I thought there were just different controller chips or some other similar differences but now I am getting another story. I would hate to pay the extra $1500 for the 4410 to later find out that all I needed to do was replace a $40.00 circuit board and the decals on a 4310.

DSP348 me thinks the 4410 has a little bigger rubber for a little wider stance plus a little more HP.
I bought the 4400 for the stance with the bigger rubber for more stability. ....

Not sure if you have seen this before but should give you a good idea of the differences. I would say that about a 10% torque increase over the 4310 is the biggest difference as far as being notable to the user. ....

I forgot to mention the big selling point for the 4410 is that it has more torque than ANY of the 4000 Ten Series tractors except for the 4710. I could see where in some unique applications that this might be a big advantage for a mid size framed tractor. ....

I'm working on a project compiling JD specs so I have them on my desk. According to JD specs on their web site and in their marketing literature here are the differences I found:
- 4410 has bigger engine with 3 more gross and pto hp and 10% more torque
- 4410 is not available in 2WD
- 4410 does not offer SyncShift tranny
- Tires are identical
There are some things in their specs I'm not sure I believe.
The printed specs show the 4410 being 6" taller to top of ROPS (90" vs. 84") but I just measured the height on my 4310 with R4 tires and it measured at 90". Maybe they measured them with different tires, they didn't specify. The other dimensions are identical.
The web site shows the 4410 weighing 105 lbs. more than the 4310 but the printed literature shows identical weights.
The web site shows a 0.7 foot smaller turning radius for the 4410 but I don't know if I believe that one either if the dimensions, axles, and tires are the same.
Basically, you are paying an extra $1500 for 3 more hp and 10% more torque. I didn't think it was worth the extra premium for the 4410 and spent the savings on more implements. In my case the 4310 runs out of traction LONG before it runs out of HP (at least with R4 tires), and if the machine is traction limited I can't see a big advantage having more power.
If the price diff was more like $500 I would have gone for it though. ....

I stand corrected on the tires. Must be the difference looking at a 4300 with R4 vs 4400 with R3. ....

I think Ken summed it up very well. Had I not come across the 4410 I have now at the price I did; I would be looking at the 4310. I just can't justify paying an extra $1500 for 3 more hp and about 5 ft./lbs. or torque. I think the 4310 is the value buy. ....

From a practical perspective, the extra power the 4410 has would allow you to move from a JD MX-5 5-foot medium duty rotary cutter to an MX-6 6-footer. If you need to do a lot of bush hogging and need a medium duty cutter the extra foot may make a difference for you. The 4310 will drive an LX-6 6-foot light duty cutter just fine. ....

Well I will have to add my 2 cents here, yesterday was the day that I would finally go and purchase my first tractor.
I have been reading this board for the past few months and the knowledge that I have gained from everyones posts has been invalueable. I was looking at the 4410. Went to my local dealer, got down to the lowest price he would go, which was lower than three other dealers around here. I still didn't want to spend that much money. He had a 4310 which I had demo'ed on the lot. He and I talked about the price of that tractor and the differences. The price was $1500.00 less, 3 HP less, 8 ft/lbs. less, Those are the only differences, besides the stickers on the side panels. The engines are the same CID. The width, length, and height, dimensions, pump, and lift capacities are the same. The tire options are the same too. So I bought the 4310, because I could not justify $1500 for 3 hp and 8 ft/lbs.
The only time you might notice is when using the pto and the hydraulics at the same time. Plus if I don't like it I have seven days to return it for the upgrade.
sorry for the long post. ....

Andy_H, actually the 4410 has a slightly larger displacement engine. (slightly under 101 cu. inch) you are on the mark with the rest. The larger displacement is due to a larger bore. ....

That would explain the hp and torque difference. The brochure lists them both at 91.3 cid. My mistake for trusting the literature without asking somebody. ....

The JD document people do a poor job tracking their specs. In one instance I found that the marketing literature, the "specs" page on their website, and the owners manual all had different numbers for ground clearance.
But in fairness to them, there can be a lot of permutations between the different options and any engineering changes that might come along during production. ....
